Boy Swallows Universe wraps filming

8 part limited series wraps in Queensland ahead of 2023 premiere on Netflix.

Production of Boy Swallows Universe, an adaptation of Trent Dalton’s novel, has now wrapped in Queensland.

The 8 part limited series was filmed on Meanjin Country / Brisbane over the last eight months, by Brouhaha Entertainment together with Anonymous Content, and Chapter One.

The series stars Travis Fimmel (Vikings, Raised by Wolves, Black Snow) as Lyle Orlik, Simon Baker (The Mentalist, Breath, High Ground) as Robert Bell, Phoebe Tonkin (Babylon, Westworld) will play the role of Frances Bell. The roles of the young Eli and Gus Bell will be played by Felix Cameron (Penguin Bloom) appearing as Eli Bell, and Lee Tiger Halley (The Heights, Crazy Fun Park) as Gus Bell.

Also featuring are Bryan Brown, Anthony La Paglia, Sophie Wilde, Christopher James Baker, HaiHa Le, Deborah Mailman, Ben O’Toole, Zachary Wan, plus Millie Donaldson and Eloise Rothfield in the roles of 17 and 13 year old Shelley Huffman, respectively.

Directors are Bharat Nalluri (Shantaram), Jocelyn Moorhouse (Proof, How to Make an American Quilt, A Thousand Acres), and Kim Mordaunt (The Rocket, Fires, Wakefield).

The series will screen later in 2023.
