Jodi Gordon hints at Neighbours return

Actor Jodi Gordon looks set to resume her character of English teacher Elly Conway in the Neighbours revival.

Appearing yesterday on Studio 10 she was asked by Angela Bishop, “Any chance we could see you in the reboot of Neighbours?”

“There are conversations happening,” Gordon replied. “And I say that with a big smile on my face.”

So far only Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburne, Ryan Moloney and Stefan Dennis have been confirmed for the 10 / Prime Video series, returning to screens later in 2023.

Yesterday Gordon told Studio 10 she was approaching one year sober following a challenging 2022 with reports of rehab.

“I do have to say, I’m not there yet,” she said.

“I was saying to the media last week, … it’s a milestone I’m really excited to reach, which will be soon. It’s great to have goals. Nearly there. One day at a time, as we all know, but I’m very, very excited about it and so much to be grateful for.”

Asked about advice for others who were struggling with addictions she added, “I do have a problem. It’s very clear to me. I think it’s up to each individual to figure that out.”

  1. With April Penghili being part of the neighbours shows in England, I’d say there’s a pretty good chance she’ll be back too, although usually the amount of time April has already been on the show, is traditionally when the young cast leave to try their luck elsewhere.

    1. Didn’t April say that she wouldn’t be interested in returning to a job that was as demanding as “Neighbours” was previously? I think if she returned, she’d want it to be with a smaller commitment (in terms of the number of production weeks per year/days per week). This could even already be the model they’re looking at to reduce the overall costs (smaller cast, lighter filming schedule, fewer working weeks per year). I agree, though, that if Jodi is back on board, it would make sense for April to return, too.

      1. Oh, I hadn’t heard that. Yes, if Jody is back and not April, it will be like we’ve all feared – that they are going to undo the happy endings. I hope not.

    Do you happen to know by when they will need a cast confirmed for story team / writers?

    Looking forward to seeing the full cast – and intrigued if they will do any re-casts from previous actors who didn’t want to return (Tak was always going to leave but Aaron and David are very popular with viewers).. just a thought.

    If Jodi does return, hopefully this means April will also return and we have “chelly”
