US actress Barbara Bosson, best known for Hill Street Blues, has died, aged 83.
She died on Saturday, her son Jesse Bochco confirmed on Instagram.
“More spirit and zest than you could shake a stick at,” he wrote. “When she loved you, you felt it without a doubt. If she didn’t, you may well have also known that too. Forever in our hearts. I love you Mama.”
Bosson played Fay Furillo, the ex-wife of Capt. Frank Furillo (Daniel J. Travanti) on Hill Street Blues from 1981–86, leading to 5 Emmy nominations. The groundbreaking series was created and produced by her then husband Steven Bochco.
She later went on to play prosecutor Miriam Grasso on legal drama Murder One from 1995 to 1997, also from Steven Bochco, leading to a sixth Emmy nomination.
She began in television as a writer on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. Her other credits included Mannix, Emergency!, Ironside. Hooperman, LA Law, Murder She Wrote, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, NYPD Blue, Hotel, Alias Smith and Jones, Cop Rock, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Bullit, Mame and The Last Starfighter.
