ABC staff to stop work

Two unions agree to stoppages next Wednesday at ABC aspart of employment brgaining.

ABC staff will undertake work stoppages next week as part of their employment bargaining with management.

Community and Public Sector Union and Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance members have agreed to take two 1-hour work stoppages on Wednesday 22nd March:

1 hour at 7am-8am AEDT (6-7am QLD, 6.30-7.30am SA, 5.30-6.30am NT, 4-5am WA) and
1 hour at 3pm-4pm AEDT (2-3pm QLD, 2.30-3.30pm SA, 1.30-2.30pm NT, 12noon-1pm WA)

The stoppage is expected to impact programmes such as News Breakfast.

Last week, hundreds of ABC staff took to social media seeking sustainable careers.

“Through standing together, growing our union, and balloting for industrial action, we have been able to secure an improved offer which meets several of our core claims, including backpay and a fair gender and race pay gap audit,” MEAA told its union members.

“We are very close to reaching a fair deal that we can all endorse, but we need to pressure management back to the table and finalise the important details that will provide real, positive change and provide sustainable careers at ABC.”
