Renewed: Taskmaster (UK)

British original with Alex Horne with Greg Davies gets an incredible six season renewal -and a junior spin-off.

The British original Taskmaster has been given an incredible six season renewal by broadcaster Channel 4.

Two new seasons a year will see the show through to 2026.

Taskmaster was described by Channel 4 Head of Events Tom Beck as “the funniest, most creative show on TV.”

Helmed by Alex Horne with Greg Davies, Taskmaster involves groups of celebrities attempting to complete a series of comic challenges, most of which could be carried out at home or in the office, or involve some sort of prank.

Channel 4 has also greenlit an eight-part Junior Taskmaster. Kids aged 9 to 11 will be recruited to bring their athleticism and creativity to the new show.

“I’ve watched many, many comedians flounder when given simple instructions over the past few years and I fully expect the competitors in Junior Taskmaster to be both more competent and just as funny,” said Horne.

10’s Australian Taskmaster with Tom Gleeson and  Tom Cashman is produced by Kevin & Co.

Taskmaster UK screens locally on SBS VICELAND.

  1. Yay, I will be watching.

Alex Horne is television gold, and Greg plays off him so well. I am waiting for the Aus version to realise that Tom Cashman is the real star, and that the “other Tom” needs to follow his lead more.

It amazes me how they keep coming up with the tasks. Surely, there must come a time when they struggle for new ideas?

My only gripe is that both versions have too much swearing. In the moment, sure, but otherwise I would like it toned down.

  2. So happy to hear this, really is one of my fav shows on tv! Can’t wait for Junior Taskmaster … would be great to see a single episode special pitting the adult comedians against some of the juniors. My money would be on the juniors winning! 😉
