As tipped by TV Tonight last December, former 60 Minutes reporter Liam Bartlett has joined 7NEWS Spotlight.
Bartlett left Nine in November, exiting 60 Minutes and radio commitments hosting 6PR Mornings.
He had reported for 60 Minutes from 2006 – 2012 then rejoining in 2015, and was previously host of The 7.30 Report in WA.
Executive producer, Mark Llewellyn, said: “Liam Bartlett is a razor-sharp interviewer and a brilliant journalist. It’s a huge coup to have him join the team.
“We’ve been friends for many years and what you see is what you get: Liam is larger than life. He’s fearless, forthright and fun, but most of all, he gives a damn.
“He’s passionate about his craft and determined to make a difference. And he’s going to make a real difference to the people – our viewers – he fights for,” he said.
Liam Bartlett said: “I’m very excited to be joining a cutting-edge current affairs program that is prepared to push the boundaries and go the extra distance in the public interest.
“I’ve always loved the challenge of an effective interview and 7NEWS Spotlight will give me an enormous opportunity to dive into interviews that try to deliver the answers to questions that all our viewers are asking.”
Bartless will make his debut when the show returns at 8.30pm this Sunday on Seven.

So what was the reason he gave for leaving 60 Minutes again? Now he’s going to Spotlight. Why didn’t he just stay at 60 Minutes? I don’t get why people do this. Leave one show & then go to the exact same type of show on another network.
I love his voice!
It’ll be great to have Liam Bartlett back on television again. He is a great investigative correspondent, and the longer stories that Spotlight typically does should allow him to really sink his teeth into the most important topics of today…or at least whatever Seven thinks is important.
It seems to be a job requirement to have 9 or at least 60 Minutes on your resume to work on this show
