Million Dollar Island: promo

First look at Seven's brand new reality series coming soon.

There are shades of Survivor in Seven’s first look promo for Million Dollar Island, a new reality show based on a Dutch format.

Filmed in Asia, the series is hosted by Ant Middleton and expected in Q2.

Attention all players: the game is about to begin! Million Dollar Island, a revolutionary new social experiment where the rules of society don’t exist, is coming soon to Channel 7 and 7plus.

In a ground-breaking concept, 100 people will try to stay on a remote desert island for a chance to win $1 million. But surviving the harsh conditions with limited means won’t be their only challenge.

To win their fortune, contestants must get it from someone else – and be willing to do whatever it takes. Stealing, deception and disorder quickly become the rules of engagement.

Nurses, garbos, farmers, real estate agents, parents, retail workers and more will leave the real world behind as they scheme and fight for the $1 million prize. But where will they draw the line? Will humanity win over, or will the lure of a life-changing fortune triumph?

Million Dollar Island is hosted by Ant Middleton and produced by award-winning Eureka Productions, the maker of some of the world’s biggest entertainment shows, including Seven’s Farmer Wants A Wife.

  1. The Summit wins the battle of the promos for me. Jai Courtney looks like an inspired choice. Interesting that Ant Middleton isn’t featured at all in Seven’s promo.

  2. I’m really looking forward to this! Being a huge Survivor fan, this looks like a little like Survivor, but also with a different format! The show also reminds me a little bit of The Big Adventure, but here’s hoping the ratings are much better than The Big Flopventure! (Even though I really enjoyed that show! It seems that I was the only one…)

It looks to me that it’s been filmed in either Thailand or Vietnam?

I’m also looking forward to Ant Middleton showing us his softer side, rather than the brutal side that we see in SAS Australia. Behave yourselves ladies!

  3. Would be a shame to see this and The Summit going head to head. They both seem like they’d be going for similar audiences. Masterchef will probably come out on top if that’s the case.

  4. As a survivor loyalist, I am very cynical at a pretender show.

However, I will say the Malaysian(?) location is gorgeous with those big cliffs among islands and is very different to Aus Survivor’s location (Samoa, Fiji & Outback).
