Coober Pedy home to Stars on Mars series

The rumour mill is in overdrive in South Australian mining town, about which US stars are secretly filming a reality show.

Filming of US reality show Stars on Mars is underway in Coober Pedy, South Australia.

The series, produced by Eureka Productions, sees US celebrities trading in their lifestyles on Earth for a simulated version of the red planet.

Host William Shatner assigns tasks to the celebrity contestants, who will live, eat, sleep, strategise and bond with each other in the simulated space station. Each week, a celebrity will be eliminated until only one remains.

Seven News nabbed vision of the constructed set, but was unable to identify the cast as they exited a plane with face masks and hoodies.

Up to 250 crew are working on the series, with locals welcoming to production boom in the region, and rumours running about who is in town.

An Australian broadcaster is yet to be announced.

  1. This is pretty much an American version of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, expect that it’s filmed in a desert and has a different name.

I read somewhere that Lisa Rinna is one of the cast members… How that’s for a rumour!

  2. This seems like such a baseless concept for a show – like things like I’m a Celeb at least has the appeal of getting to know the celeb contestants

But this seems so high concept that I smell a total flop.
