Foxtel to drop PBS Kids channel

US based kids channel will exit at the end of June, two years after it was added to Foxtel.

Foxtel is closing the PBS Kids channel after June 30th, exactly two years after it was launched.

Titles programmed on the Virginia-based public broadcast channel included Arthur, Molly of Denali, Donkey Hodie, Elinor Wonders Why and It’s a Big Big World.

A Foxtel spokesperson told TV Tonight, “Foxtel Group offers a wide range of popular kids content via DreamWorks, Cartoon Network, CBeebies and Boomerang including popular returning and premiering titles: Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and Boss Baby: Back in Action (DreamWorks), Teen Titans Go! (Cartoon Network), Hey Duggee (CBeebies) and Batwheels (Boomerang).

“Customers also have access to even more kids content via the suite of integrated apps including some of the biggest kids titles in the world: Bluey (ABC iView), Peppa Pig (ABC iView), Spidey & His Amazing Friends (Disney+), Frozen (Disney+) and Paw Patrol The Movie (Netflix).

“We constantly review the performance and popularity of this content and have made the decision to close our PBS Kids channel. PBS Kids will be available to customers until 30 June 2023.”

Yesterday Foxtel confirmed beIN SPORTS would also end on June 30 after 7 years.

  1. I’m not one to accept Foxtel and the disregard they have for their customers….I complain and I’m not backwards in telling them I not happy. It’s surprising what they do when you tell them. I complained several times about their remote record feature on their My Foxtel app not picking up the signal and was given the Drama/Movie package for free as well as $30 off each month till Sept 23. Then the IQ5 box wasn’t working so I complained again and they were going to send a new plug and play in the mail, I refused the PnP and requested a tech install it properly so they arranged a tech to come and install but it was going to be a week, so I told them I wasn’t paying rental on something I was not able to access, they gave me a weeks credit but something went amiss with their communication and I got a phone call to say the tech would be out the next day to install the new IQ5 at no extra cost to me. Then out of the blue I got an email advising me I got the Sports package free now as well. 👍

  2. The price is actually going up on the same day!

Foxtel prices are changing from 1 July 2023. The price of our base packs (Essentials, Entertainment and Foxtel Plus) are increasing by $3 per month. The BYO Platinum HD package (in the Entertainment package structure) is also increasing by $2 per month.

  3. So that’s now four channels going (plus Nat Geo and one of the entertainment channels a little while back), I’m sure we’ll see a drop in our subs to match this…hahahaha
