The Bridge to replace MasterChef

Late programming change from 10 following the death of MasterChef judge.

10 is replacing MasterChef Australia with The Bridge this week from Sunday – Thursday.

The change follows Network 10 suspending the cooking season this week following the sudden death of judge Jock Zonfrillo.

The Bridge was due to screen on 10 on Thursday night, and has previously aired on Paramount+. A Law & Order: SVU repeat now airs in its place.

10 is yet to confirm further plans for its MasterChef Australia season but 7:30pm Sunday is now TBA.

  1. I’m sure they are, but I really hope 10 are engaging with the family as to what to do with the series that’s already in the can. Either way, there will be some serious editing to be done to make sure it’s kept respectful and appropriate.

  3. While I wish it wasn’t the case from the tragic circumstances, I am glad that this gem of a show can get eyeballs – watched it on P+ and it was like the really old seasons of Survivor, with the human element of the experience & game being brought to the forefront of the show.

    1. Ten chose well for filling the very unexpected gap in their schedule. While we wait to see what happens with Masterchef, The Bridge should provide some solid entertainment.

        1. They weren’t, but they could have been worse. Ten could have put anything into the timeslot, and it might not have performed as well. That being said, perhaps Ten should be given a bit of a pass on its ratings for the next week or two while they process Jock Zonfrillo’s death and figure out what to do next.

          1. Agree that in context The Bridge will not perform as well, given no promotion, some have seen it on P+ and indeed that opening episode even played on 10 previously. It’s a good series so you’d hope it finds a FTA crowd against the odds.

  4. Can’t 10 find something else to replace MasterChef? Ever since childhood I’ve had an irrational fear of bridges caused by the story Billy Goats Gruff. I’m not the only one as Brick suffered with the same phobia in an episode of The Middle.

      1. For helping easing mine and Brick’s fears what is The Bridge about? Any idea of the schedule during the daytime when the replay would be shown? Again I send condolences and prayers to his family. ):

        2. The Bridge is a bridge by name only really. What is made is a floating wooden platform so watch it without fear of a trigger in what is actually an excellent show and a very decent replacement for MasterChef for the time being.

        3. Out of interest, was it the Ladybird books that kicked off your fear, Bre? The artwork in that was pretty terrifying to me as a kid, too. Didn’t result in an irrational fear but I get where you’re coming from if that was the source.
