VOZ numbers push ABC’s Coronation broadcast to the top

When national and BVOD numbers are added, ABC's Coronation coverage outranked Seven's.

VOZ numbers released by OzTAM yesterday afternoon changed the outcome of Coronation broadcasts on Saturday.

While Seven led in Metro Overnights -still the industry standard – new VOZ numbers shows ABC led nationally when BVOD was added.

Yesterday ABC came under fire for airing negative anti-monarchist views prior to the Ceremony, and that the broadcaster had lost viewers as a result.

But new VOZ numbers indicate it still came out on top in Coronation rankings.

Still, Seven won the night in metro share.

  1. Never understood how Channel 7 could have won when their coverage was demoted to 7-Two SD in some AFL states.

Exclusive AFL would have helped them win the night.

  2. While the ABC had its Coronation “pre-show” on, my wife and I were making dinner, so we missed most of the conversation.

I wonder if others were doing the same, so really the ABC may not have lost many viewers at all.

I chose the ABC because I had a fear that the commercial stations would make the event cringy.

    1. The conservation was 1 hour of ranting conspiracy theories about the Monarchy by the new head of the Australian Republican Party Craig Foster and mates. It rated 200k and didn’t make this list. What people wanted to watch was the spectacle of processions and the coronation ceremony. As everyone was showing the same BBC feed the distinguishing factor was that the ABC uses taxpayer funds so broadcast and streamed it ad free. Channel 7 which had a lot of people on the ground for crosses and it’s own commentary did best in the overnights and 2nd best here. Nine had NRL on it’s main channel.
