Nine denies Scott Cam rumours

“The report is not true" Nine says of report that Scott Cam will depart The Block after Season 19.

Nine has responded to media reports that suggest Scott Cam is set to leave The Block after the upcoming season.

An “Insider” told Yahoo! producers were scrambling to find a successor after his 13 year run.

“Scotty Cam’s’ contract is up and it is believed he isn’t signing for any more after this one,” the insider suggested.

“We want to celebrate while we have Scotty on contract and that may very well mean getting our skates on now.”

But Nine told news.com.au, “The report is not true” and explained Cam has said in the past working on the show is “never a drag” and he was thrilled to be kicking off another season this year.

While Nine loves chatter about the show, which launches imminently, it isn’t clear if contract tactics are part of the story placement either.

Cam is the show’s second host, having replaced original host Jamie Durie from S3 in 2010. Shelley Craft also joined in 2010.

Season 19 of The Block, set in Charming Street Hampton East, returns 7pm Sunday August 6 going head to head with the return of The Voice.
