Sunrise, The Morning Show farewell Martin Place.

Nearly two decades and thousands of hours of morning television draw to a close in famed studio space.

As Sunrise wrapped its last ever (weekday) broadcast at Martin Place, Sam Mac was trashing the corridors all in good jest.

It wraps 19 years in the former Colonial State Bank building, as the show relocates to Eveleigh headquarters from Monday.

The Morning Show has also farewelled the space after 16 years.

You can also see Mac’s control room visit here.

Kylie Gillies & Larry Emdur also farewelled the studio here.

Weekend Sunrise on Sunday will be the final broadcast in the CBD space.

  1. 7 News Sydney showed a very wide shot of their new setup. No crew. Where were the cameramen/women, floor manager, audio assistant – so barren and cold. No feeling. No more fun and banter, just robotic cameras. I love it when the robots go for a walk on their own (ABC, BBC News, etc). Stuff we’d never see with real camera(wo)men.

  2. From the point that they started hiding the bogans who turned up outside the window, the Martin Place fishbowl lost its usefulness m,
Marble staircase and Lindt siege aside.

  3. Feel for the hosts trying to talk up the new studio – nothing will ever be as good as the “Hey Days” of Sunrise at Martin Place.

Hearing the new Redfern studio won’t even have camera operators anymore – all robotics apart from 1 steadicam operator.
