Love Island filming new season for Nine

Host Sophie Monk is back in the Mallorca villa with hot new singles.

Filming is getting underway on a new season of Love Island in Mallorca, Spain, for Nine.

Sophie Monk returns as host with Stephen Mullan as narrator.

Season 5 is back in the same villa as S4, won by Austen and Claudia. It is executive produced by Alex Mavroidakis for ITV Studios Australia, the same team behind I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

It is expected to screen around October, but dates have not been confirmed.

Cast are yet to be announced.

Nine has been contacted for comment.

  1. Oh no, I know I pop up every year on this but once again we lose Eoghan McDermott as the narrator so that is probably me done. Wish they’d explain why… America dumping Matthew Hoffman took a bit of the fun away too. Honestly though, I think between pre-filming the show and changing narrator again it just loses the spark and intention behind it. Channel 7 does it with big brother and dancing with the stars too. These shows are designed to engage their audience via live interaction/voting etc so it feels like 7 and 9 are so obsessed with pre-recording everything it loses the heart of the shows they’re doing it to.

    1. Exactly how I feel. Pre-recording and getting only the ‘super fans’ to vote in the recouplings is so stupid and goes against the whole concept of the show.
