Renewed: Mayor of Kingstown

US drama with Jeremy Renner is renewed for a third season.

US drama Mayor of Kingstown has been renewed for a third season by Paramount+ which is good news given the recent accident and recovery of star Jeremy Renner.

In January Renner suffered a snowplow accident at his home in Nevada and was flown by helicopter to hospital in a critical condition. 10 weeks after surgery he began to start walking with a cane.

In the series Renner stars as Mike McLusky, who comes from a family of power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality, the series follows the McLusky family through their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.

The cast also includes Dianne Wiest,co-creator Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Hamish Allan-Headley and Aidan Gillen as Russian mobster Milo Sunter.

The series screens in Australia on Paramount+.
