Popular US animated series SpongeBob SquarePants has been renewed for a 15th season ahead of the 25th anniversary next year.

26 new episodes will feature incurable optimist SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, Mr. Krabs, Plankton and Squidward in more nautical adventures.

Returning voice cast includes Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick Star), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy Cheeks) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton).

SpongeBob SquarePants has reigned as the most-watched animated series since its launch on July 17, 1999, spawning a global franchise that includes spinoff series on Paramount+, theatrical movies, consumer products and a Tony-winning Broadway musical.

SpongeBob SquarePants was created by the late Stephen Hillenburg and screens in Australia on 10’s new Free to Air multichannel, Nickelodeon.
