Screen Music Awards 2023: nominees

The best of Australian Screen Composers will be honoured at annual awards in Melbourne in November.

Nominees have been announced in the Screen Music Awards 2023.

TV shows including Bluey, The Last King of the Cross, The Messenger, Deadloch, Safe Home, The Clearing, Crazy Fun Park, Upright and In Limbo have been nominated.

There are massive 23 first-time nominees recognised by APRA AMCOS and the AGSC (Australian Guild of Screen Composers).

Screen composers Bryony Marks (pictured below, left) and Michael Yezerski (below, right) lead the nominations. Both are nominated for Best Television Theme – Bryony Marks for The Messenger and Michael Yezerski for Ivy + Bean, which is also recognised in the Best Music for Children’s Programming category. Yezerski’s final nomination is for Best Music for a Mini-Series or Telemovie for Cabinet of Curiosities: Pickman’s Model. Bryony Marks is nominated in the same category for her work on the ABC TV series Savage River, and The Messenger scores another nod for Best Soundtrack Album.

The 2023 Screen Music Awards will be presente at Forum Melbourne / Naarm on Thursday 9 November, hosted by Susie Youssef with performances led by Musical Director and nominee Erkki Veltheim.
