US actor Richard Moll, best known for Night Court, has died, aged 80.

He died Thursday at his home in California following a prolific screen career.

The towering actor played bailiff Bull Shannon in Night Court from 1984 to 1992. As Bull, his catchphrase was “Ooo-kay,” and he was known for clapping a hand loudly to his scalp when he realised he had made a mistake.

Standing 203cm (6 foot 8) he would often portray hulking or imposing characters. His many television appearances included Sabrina the Teenage Witch, 7th Heaven, Smallville, Cold Case, Anger Management, Married with Children, Baywatch, Babylon 5, Dr Quinn Medicine Woman, Highlander, The Facts of Life, Santa Barbara, Happy Days, Welcome Back Kotter, The Rockford Files, BJ and the Bear, Mork & Mindy, The Fall Guy, T.J. Hooker, Fantasy Island, Alice, The Dukes of Hazzard.

He voiced the role of Harvey Dent/Two-Face on The Adventures of Batman & Robin, as well as Scorpion on Spider-Man: The Animated Series.

He also had parts in The Flintstones, Jingle All the Way, Casper Meets Wendy, Scary Movie 2,  But I’m a Cheerleader, Nightmare Man, Thomas Kinkade’s Christmas Cottage

  1. Oh no! He was such a great character and Night Court so brilliant. I know everyone is talking about Matthew Perry and although sad, I hate Friends and it didn’t really upset me. So thanks for letting us know about another unfortunate death David. Actually great that someone that talk made it to 80 because it is a fact that taller people tend to die much sooner than others.
    Sad that so many people from Night Court have died too.
