“We get to trojan horse these conversations into primetime television”

Bachelor host Osher Günsberg says Rose Ceremonies with 3 Bachelors tackle all kinds of relationship questions.

10’s new season of The Bachelors premieres next week, having recently completed its first production in Melbourne.

Several months ago host Osher Günsberg welcomed advertisers and media buyers to the ‘mansion’ south east of the city, to meet the three Bachelors Wesley, Ben and Luke.

With a dash of humour he hinted at what’s to come, including how the show raises conversations about modern dating.

“To be in Melbourne is amazing for us,” he told guests. It’s a completely different feel for the show. Last season we were very lucky to go to the Gold Coast. We were in Surfer’s Paradise where the ocean meets the ice …full of bikinis and all that kind of thing.

“Here in Melbourne there’s roaring fires, cozy jackets… it’s fantastic! It’s a very intimate season of The Bachelors, the way it looks is very different. We shot the opening… it was spectacular. It looks like nothing else you’ll see on television, cinematically very different and very dramatic as usual. It’s a very, very romantic season.

“After all, I and the team here at The Bachelor, are personally responsible for 5 separate weddings, and at least 8 children. I was there, supervising… no I wasn’t. And I wasn’t invited to any one of those weddings! Not one. But that’s fine,” he joked.

“This is where we do the rose ceremonies in this very room. I stand here, the ladies stand there. We have these amazing conversations because there’s three separate Bachelors. So we get to, kind of, trojan horse these conversations into primetime television about ‘What does equality in a relationship look like?’, ’What is it for a beautiful woman to pursue someone?’ Often it’s the first time it’s ever happened. ‘What is it to get into a relationship that is a challenge for you to get into?’ Because you have to work to get into it, but what do you get out of that?

“These sort of things we never really have the chance to chat about in primetime TV but under the guise of the Bachelor world we get to do it and it’s really exciting.”

The Bachelors premieres 7:30pm Sunday December 3 on 10.
