In a surprising confirmation, Dr Nick Coatsworth will guest host Today with Nine Queensland weekend news presenter Mia Glover.
They will replace usual hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo for the week from Boxing Day.
“Emma Lawrence will be doing Sport and Richard Wilkins doing Entertainment,” a Nine spokesman told The Australian.
The newspaper speculates that “There are plenty of noses out of joint and the hosts – regular and those overlooked for the plum gig – are furious.”
Coatsworth is a regular contributor to the breakfast show, but doubtless behind the move is plans to lift his TV profile ahead of a new medical series coming to Nine in 2024, Do You Want to Live Forever?
“The summer break is regularly used as a spot to showcase new on-air presenters.”

Channel 9’s Andrew Rochford.
Speaking of, long time no see for Dr Rochford. Has he returned to his first love? I always liked him alongside Mark Humphries on Pointless.
I think Seven picked up Dr. Andrew Rochford to provide medical expert reports on Sunrise/Morning show. Kinda like Dr. John D’arcy, back in the day. But not sure if that’s still going?
Well, there you go. I always thought Dr. Coatsworth’s next move would be as a political candidate.
At least it’s not Kerryn Phelps.
At least it’s not the seemingly Labor union medical association political ABC doctor Dr. Norman Swan. What was said about Shane Warne and Kimberley Kitching again? Shameful and disgraceful. Disgusting. I don’t even want to see the GP anymore because of the politicisation of the medical profession. Horrendous. Like a third-world country. That’s got to change.
Did you get lost on your way to post that rant on a News Corp tabloids website, mate?
No, not at all. You’ll find that I mentioned the bias of Sky News Australia and Fox News recently in another article. I try to maintain neutrality, or provide an alternative view.
No. Just no.
Ratings in Melbourne will be interesting. He was not popular during the pandemic, always siding with the liberals, no matter how self-contradictory and nonsensical.
Wow that’s a surprise….wonder how he’ll go
