AACTA Audience Choice Awards 2024: nominees

... and so it came to pass that The Kardashians were up for an AACTA Award.

AACTA has announced its nominees for the Audience Choice Awards 2024, following online voting and a social media callout.

The list this year has thrown up some unexpected nominations including Netflix, Disney, and Prime Video shows as the ‘Favourite TV Series.’

They include Ginny & Georgia, My Life with the Walter Boys, Outer Banks, The Kardashians, The Summer I Turned Pretty and Young Sheldon.

The last time this category was held the category was: Bluey, Gogglebox, Have you Been Paying Attention? Heartbreak High, Home and Away and Married at First Sight.

Why the sudden change?

TV Tonight understands voters were not required to verify being an Australian resident such as via a phone number.

Probably some room for improvement if these Audience categories plan to continue…

  1. The nominees seem like a joke, not to judge the nominees themselves, but the sheer unexpectedness of them being nominated for these awards. Most of them have probably never heard of the AACTA’s and would have no genuine gratitude of they won. Also, how can a podcast be nominated for ‘Media Personality’. Surely you would nominate the host(s).

  2. The AACTAs were once a prestigious award on the same level as the BAFTAs and the Academy Awards. These ridiculous people’s choice categories and the ridiculous nominees have cheapened them. They look like Nickelodeon or MTV categories which children chose. Embarrassing!
