Cote de Pablo, Michael Weatherly set for new NCIS spin-off

Former on-screen NCIS couple will lead their own spin-off series set in Paris.

NCIS: Paris anyone?

Former NCIS cast Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly are set to star in an untitled, Paris-set spinoff of the NCIS, reprising their roles as, respectively, Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo.

De Pablo left NCIS in 2013, and Weatherly departed two years later but recently returned to pay tribute to David McCallum.

The synopsis reads, “When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, try to figure out who is after them and maybe even learn to trust each other again so that they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after.”

“We’ve been talking about this story for many years, and now with John McNamara at the helm, we are ready,” Weatherly and de Pablo said in a statement. “The world of Tony and Ziva (and daughter Tali) promises to be an action-packed roller coaster fueled by love, danger, tears and laughter. We also want to acknowledge and thank the fans from around the world who supported the ‘TIVA’ movement for years. To this day, they say hello in grocery stores and on the street to tell us how much these characters mean to them and ask what Tony and Ziva are up to now. This is for you.”

Showrunner John McNamara said, “I’m incredibly excited to step into the NCIS universe with Cote and Michael and thrilled to explore it from a few new angles. Given that the franchise is such a global sensation, I think it’s phenomenal that CBS Studios and Paramount+ have given us the green light to shoot in Europe. As to the title of this series, if I told you what it is, I’d be violating the Espionage Act.”

The series is set for Paramount+ to join the universe of NCIS, NCIS: LA, NCIS; New Orleans, NCIS: Hawai’i and the first international edition, NCIS: Sydney.

  1. A bit late for a spin off I’d say.
But talking about NCIS when is channel 10 going to put on the new episodes so we can see the the tribute episode of Ducky’s – David McCallum? It’s March and we’re still in repeats as well as SVU…. Come on 10!

  2. Like Chris Meloni getting his own spin-off (L&O Organized Crime), I figured that egos would have been too fragile for those promoted to the top of the marquee to step down the hierarchy for their former higher-billed co-stars (or vice versa). Preferably, it would have been great to have the old gang back again, and there’ll likely be a crossover episode along the way. It’s just disappointing that this tends to be the course when former stars in long-running series reprise their earlier roles. Incidentally, I’m almost surprised that Pauley Perrette has yet to return to the original series since Mark Harmon’s exit, and she’d be a valuable link to the show’s long history given that we’ve also lost David McCallum.

In any case, I think this spin-off would (perhaps ironically) be far more appealing to Australian audiences than NCIS Sydney given the return of much-loved characters.

    1. God damn, just when you think you’ve watched the last episode of NCIS you’re ever going to see, they reel you back in!!
It’s been going on that long I’ve “divorced” it 3 times. Damn.

  3. de Pablo easily the best main female character (outside Director Jenny Shepard played by Lauren Holly in the mid to late 2000s) and Weatherly was arguably The show (bar Mark Harmon’s Gibbs). So this sounds promising but perhaps some years too late. Special mention to the late great David McCallum as the beloved Ducky.
