Monday marks 45 years since Prisoner first debuted on Australian television.
This weekend a three day fan convention in Melbourne sees Val Lehman and Maggie Kirkpatrick reunite, plus a trivia event at the Burvale Hotel (the cast’s original drinking hole) with Anne Charleston, Janet Andrewartha, Jan Russ, Lisa Crittenden, Maggie Millar, Christine Harris, Kevin Summers, Victoria Nicholls, Desiree Smith and more.
I’ve featured Prisoner a number of times over the years, considering it was one of my very first set visits (I think Countdown may have pipped it). Channel 0-10 also gave me their blessing to start the show’s very first fan club anywhere in the world.
But given the occasion, here is a scene with three amazing actresses. Hopefully someone at the event can send me some info later to bring you a report afterwards….

Watching older clips like that you notice that the Australian accent is no longer as broad as it once was.
… we must be part of a very select group David … I too visited Wentworth Detention Centre (aka Studio B at ATV0 Nunawading) in 1983 … I also dropped into Carson’s Law at the same time …
Thanks David for reminding me that I’m actually older than this show.
I’m rewatching Wentworth and while I enjoy it, it doesn’t hold a candle to Prisoner. Although I do love Pamela Rabe as the Freak.
I’m doing a rewatch at the moment on 10Play. I just wish it was on Paramount+ so I didn’t have to sit through ads…
I’m hoping Stan will get it eventually.
When will Prisoner be inducted into the Hall of fame ?
So many of the actresses are getting older.
We must honour this iconic show.
Agreed Geoff!
