Former Neighbours legend Kylie Minogue will receive the Brits Global Icon award at this year’s Brit Awards “in recognition of her career spanning across five decades as one of the world’s most successful and iconic music stars.”
But there are no confirmed plans to screen this in Australia.
UKTV sources confirmed to TV Tonight they are not broadcasting the event which takes place on March 2 (UK).
The Brits Icon is the highest accolade given by the Brit Awards, with previous winners including Elton John, Robbie Williams, David Bowie and Taylor Swift.
Minogue, who is also nominated for international artist of the year, is confirmed to perform on the night, joining the previously announced Dua Lipa and Raye. She is the only female artist to score a No. 1 album in five consecutive decades in the U.K.. In 2023, she released her No. 1 studio album, “Tension,” preceded by hit single “Padam Padam,” which won a Grammy earlier this month.
“I am beyond thrilled to be honored with the Global Icon Award and to be joining a roll call of such incredible artists. The U.K. has always been a home from home so the Brits have a very special place in my heart. I have some amazing memories from the awards over the years and I can’t wait to be back on the Brits stage,” Minogue said.
While Seven recently screened An Audience with Kylie, the crucial segment is likely to hit news bulletins and social media.

Apparently, international viewers can watch The Brits on YouTube. I forgot the link, but assume it’s on their own channel.
Padam wasn’t big in AU, not on airplay chart or Aria Charts or even AU Aria chart….
And yet everybody knows it… go figure.
It was her first top 20 charting single in over 10 years on the ARIA chart and went ARIA certified gold and was from an ARIA number one album
Singing Budgies are Indigenous to Australia.
Kylie no longer gets much radio airplay or recognition in her home country, then again the UK pretty much adopted her from us a long time ago, and now she’s making a determined effort to raise her profile in the U.S.
Actually her push into USA goes back several decades, and if you didn’t hear Padam Padam on radio in Australia not sure what station you were listening to? She’s also relocated back to Oz. The recognition is unbreakable…
Like I even heard Padam Padam on local radio in suburban Newcastle which shocked me to my core!!
Clearly written by someone that doesn’t listen to commercial radio 🤭
With the Australian music industry in the doldrums now, with the exception of Kylie, it’d be worth showing these award shows in Australia as well. It might inspire.
Award shows will have general appeal anyway, just because of the glamour, showbiz and fashion.
