  1. The first ep did exposition using standard cop cliches. After that it was all lifted straight out of The X-Files and Fortitude. By the end nobody new what was going on. There was something about a conspiracy between a mining company and scientists to deliberately poison everyone to get some unexplained miracle microbe. It appears exist is a parallel universe where no one has invented Artic Drilling.

  2. Unfortunately the first 2 episodes are by far the best. It then proceeded to spin it’s wheels for the remainder of the run. It got a lot of hate online, and at first I was against it, but as the show went on, I began to realise that the show is sort of terrible. A similar themed show (with a noir like tone and unexplained murders involving tongues) is Deadlock on Amazon Prime, however this show seems to be in reverse. The first 2 eps are the weakest but it really ramps up, where every clue is set up and paid off and it keeps you guessing to the end with an amazing conclusion. So much better than Night Country despite the same themes. Oh, and it actually involves detective work!

  3. Jodie Foster has brought the True Detective series back from possible oblivion. After watching the first two episodes of ‘Night Country’ it does look like the plot foreshadows familiar Nordic noir, themes, but that’s okay with me.
