MasterChef Australia returns to Hong Kong

2024 judges Andy Allen, Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli are filming in Hong Kong.

MasterChef Australia has confirmed filming of three episodes in Hong Kong for the first time since Season 1 in 2009.

2024 judges, Andy Allen, Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli are filming with this season’s contestants.

Andy Allen said: “I’ve never been to Hong Kong, but I’ve been really interested in the place for a long time. That’s because I see the city’s array of food is off the charts: it’s a melting pot of different cultures, bold flavours, and one-of-a-kind ingredients.

“Blending Michelin-starred restaurants with bustling street markets, it seems to have this world-class food culture going on. It’s so good that now myself, the other judges, and contestants can finally get amongst it this season.”

Filming by Endemol Shine Australia is underway in association with Hong Kong Tourism Board and Cathay Pacific Airways.

  1. Great to see they’re finally going overseas again. I have missed the overseas trips & wondered why they were no longer going. They were always a highlight of the show.

  2. Well that’s surprising news!

I’ve really enjoyed the past few seasons but have been getting a bit of cabin fever with so many challenges purely indoors. I don’t underestimate the complexities of filming/producing/participating in this in general let alone with COVID challenges. But there is a big element of the pre-covid seasons that I miss and the offsite challenges being one.

Similar for MKR — some of the more memorable episodes/challenges were the ones offsite!

Can’t wait for the new season.
