Screen Forever 2024: Greg Haddrick joins Lisa McCune, Fiona Banks at Broad Story

Newly-formed production adds renowned screenwriter as its showrunner.

Renowned screenwriter Greg Haddrick (Underbelly, Janet King, MDA, Pine Gap) has joined the newly-formed production company Broad Story, founded by Lisa McCune and director Fiona Banks.

Speaking today at Screen Forever, Lisa McCune said, “Broad Story is a new player in the space and I have partnered with Fiona Banks who’s a director with an editing background.

“Fiona and I have worked together for many years, back to the day when I performed in Blue Heelers. It was during a production we did in the pandemic, when we started talking about storytelling and about the kind of shows, the way they’re produced and the evolution of projects and we decided to get together.

“We’ve been developing a slate for about two years and we’ve had some incredible support from Beyond (Productions). We have one project that’s in development with Beyond who have come on board and said ‘We will help you.’

“In January Greg Haddrick jumped on board with us as well. So we’ve formed a three quarter partnership and what we’ve tried to do is establish a full run at it. So we’ve got Greg as a showrunner. We’ve got the director and the editor in Fiona and then I bring, I guess, performance experience and a lot of years working on scripts.”

Four time Gold Logie winner McCune, who has over 30 years of stage and screen experience also hopes to see Broad Story foster projects by playwrights.

“We have a really keen eye to bring some of those that writing talent across to the screen. So Greg’s brought his slate across to us as well. This is our first time at Screen Forever and we’re starting to have conversations and it’s really exciting.”
