Ian Smith returning to Neighbours

"We are thrilled to welcome Ian Smith back to the show and the opening titles, where he belongs."

Neighbours has announced the return of favourite patriarch Ian Smith to Erinsborough.

In social media posts, Neighbours teased, “After fifteen years of living away, the legendary Harold Bishop is returning to Erinsborough. We are thrilled to welcome Ian Smith back to the show and the opening titles, where he belongs.”

His on air return date is yet to be revealed.

Harold Bishop featured from 1987 until 1991, and again from 1996 as a regular until 2009, including subsequent guest returns  including for the relaunch in 2023.

Meanwhile cast members will also embark on another 40th Anniversary Tour in the UK in February 2025 inclusing at the London Palladium.

Any possible Australian dates are yet to be confirmed.

  1. This is fantastic news. His presence during last year’s revival didn’t give him much to do other than smile and be nostalgic. The ‘memory loss’ storyline proved a red herring. Hopefully they give Harold a storyline that gives Smith a chance to perform the full depth of the character, and the full depth of his talent.
