Airdate: Hard Quiz Kids

It's Tom Gleeson vs pint-sized contestants in ABC's new spin-off quiz.

Tom Gleeson’s next TV venture Hard Quiz Kids will premiere in early June on ABC Family.

With his trademark grumpiness and wicked humour, Tom interrogates ordinary, but brainy contestants – the only difference is, they’re all aged between 10 and 13.

Sure of his superiority, Tom knows what it’s like to be the smartest person in the room, even when he’s not. With questions almost as hard as the host, Tom works his charges to find out how much they really know. But don’t let the deadpan delivery fool you: this is a show with heart, where cleverness and eccentricity are celebrated. While executing his duties as a serious quiz master, Tom’s cheeky banter lets him get away with almost anything. His rare ability to grill a subject while they laugh at themselves is razor sharp, having been developed by working live comedy audiences for more than twenty years, and throughout eight hugely successful seasons of the original Hard Quiz.

Hard Quiz Kids tests our smartest children, and as with the regular show, the questions range from the specific topics of each child to general knowledge, discovering the strengths and exploiting the weaknesses of our pint-sized contestants. And as always, the play-along factor is high, because what’s the point of being a well-informed ABC viewer if you can’t yell the answers at the TV in front of the people you love, right?

7:30pm Saturday June 8 on ABC Family.

  1. There already was a kids special on 23rd December 2020. Format has been done called “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?”. I’d like to see Battle of the Tom’s (Gleisner, Ballard, Cashman and Gleeson) hosted by props guy Marty or the duds that have left first.
