Tonight on NITV…

Living Black: Soul of the Block
Monday, 17 June at 8.30pm on NITV
After five decades of struggle and controversy, the birthplace of modern Black resistance, “the Block” in Sydney’s Redfern has been reborn as the Pemulwuy Development. It’s a mix of hundreds of high-rise student apartments and affordable housing for First Nations peoples which critics say is too expensive for Indigenous tenants. Many fear that gentrification has destroyed the culture of protest and changed the soul of the ‘Block’ forever. This investigation episode explores the Pemulwuy Development in more detail.

It will be followed by Sydney Opera House Presents: Generations & Dynasties.
Monday, 17 June at 9.00pm on NITV

Join us for a brand new First Nations series taking place over three episodes, filmed at the Sydney Opera House. Combining conversation, storytelling and song, the series will feature three esteemed First Nations families.

Generations and Dynasties explores the rich tapestry of storytelling in First Nations culture, passed down from parents to children and among siblings. Like the symbolic passing of the story stick, each event reflects the importance of family, community, and culture. It’s a chance to honour these trailblazers and look at the creative journey across generations.

Episode One:
Join the Jarrett Family – Wire MC, Tasman Keith & Kapital J, in conversation and performance as part of Generations and Dynasties, an intimate series of storytelling and music celebrating First Nations families and culture.
