SBS on Demand: Bosch: Legacy, Wisting.

Titus Welliver drama becomes available without a paywall, plus a third season of Norwegian noir.

Bosch: Legacy comes to SBS on Demand today along with Norwegian noir Wisting S3.

Loosely based on Michael Connelly’s The Wrong Side of Goodbye Bosch: Legacy follows Harry (Titus Welliver) as he begins a new chapter as a private investigator. It has previously screened on Prime Video.

The cast also features Stephen A. Chang, Denise G. Sanchez, Madison Lintz and Mimi Rogers.

For his first job, he is tasked with finding the only potential heir to an ailing billionaire, Whitney Vance. He clashes with powerful figures who have a vested interest in that person not being found. When he looks into the family tree, he discovers shocking revelations spanning generations. Since he doesn’t have a badge and prefers old-school tactics, Maurice “Mo” Bassi, a tech-forward gadget whiz who shares his fondness for smooth jazz and commitment to justice, becomes an invaluable resource. Meanwhile, as a rookie patrol officer, Maddie is paired with Reina Vasquez, a no-nonsense, hard-charging training officer. She must figure out what kind of cop she wants to be. Harry, who continues to live by the code that everybody counts, or nobody counts—believes it’s clear: Being a cop is either a mission or just a job.

All ten episodes available. Thursday, 6 June 2024 on SBS On Demand.

With a young British citizen missing, detective William Wisting and his colleagues are under immense pressure to solve the murder and find the boy before it’s too late. When the Greenwood family receives a ransom demand, the kidnapper’s cryptic message causes Wisting to wonder if there is a personal motive behind Clifford’s disappearance.

  1. Something to watch besides Young Sheldon this month. That is the synopsis for S4 of Wisting which aired in Norway in March. S1-3 have aired on SBS and On Demand before. S3 aired in Norway back in 2022.

Bosch: Legacy I have been wanting to see. It was pulled of Freevee here and put behind the Amazon paywall.
I’ve read the novel and the major plot is the same, they have just removed the connection to Harry’s childhood. Who knows how long we will have to wait for S2 though. Bosch: Legacy has been renewed for S3 which will be on Amazon later this year. They’ve already got a Haller TV series on Netflix and Amazon have announced a spin-off involving Ballard, which will be how they will use the later Bosch novels.

  2. As a fan of the Bosch series, especially the early seasons which I rate as bingeworthy, I was not sure about continuing Harry’s story in Bosch:Legacy, Titus Welliver is a fine actor but the Bosch stories are character driven with the LA Police station being an important theatrical backrop. Harry having left the police to be a private detective was a risky move for the screenplay writers, some viewers will miss the banter of the ‘police’ regulars and for me this did happen, the show is still watchable and well made but not the must see it had been before. I’m sure my personal preferences wont influence the future of Harry Bosch, Bosch:Legacy is probably earmarked for one more season, but I do feel the characters time is almost up.
