Where are you based and which states did you film in for 22 / 23 / 24 productions?
We’re based in Sydney at Disney Studios (formerly Fox Studios) and we have been here from day one. Over the last two years we have filmed in NSW, Qld, Vic and South Australia on a variety of different projects. Internationally, we filmed in the US, Japan, Mexico.

How many full-time equivalent staff and how many does it expand to during production?
We have six full time staffers and during production, anywhere from 30-60 people, depending on the type of production.

What is your ownership model and who are key principals?
Lune is 100% Australian owned independent production company, established by Leonie Lowe.

Describe the genres you specialise in for production?
We specialise in non-scripted factual and factual entertainment content. We produce series and one-off documentaries.

What have been some of your notable credits and with which broadcasters / streamers?
We have just delivered Do You Want To Live Forever? for Nine Network which is currently screening Mondays at 7:30pm. We also produced Police Rescue Australia for Nine in 2023.
We are thrilled our series War On Waste for the ABC has just received a Logies nom for 2024 as we are so proud of that program. For SBS we have produced Osher Gunsberg: A World Of Pain and two seasons Struggle Street several years ago. We also had lots of fun making Shaun Micallef’s Brain Eisteddfod for Network 10 in 2022.

What’s coming up on your slate and how many projects are in active development?
Well, let’s hope we will have another series of Do You Want To Live Forever? and War On Waste! Currently, we have five projects in active development, in various stages. One of the things we are proud of at Lune is working collaboratively with talent and creatives. We worked side by side with Craig Reucassel the brilliant host of War On Waste to develop the content of the series. When Nine commissioned DYWTLF? the original idea came from Dr Nick Coatsworth, and from there we created the series. Leonie Lowe’s relationship and history with Shaun Micallef is how Brain Eisteddford came to life. New ideas, collaborations and relationships are the key to Lune’s success.

Do you receive unsolicited material, what are you looking for, how should people pitch projects?
We are always open to new ideas and formats. We’re continuing to focus on the factual / factent space and best place to start is to email us.

What change would you most like to see when it comes to commissions?
More! Our view is that audiences love factual content and entertainment, and we’d love to see more screen. It’s easier said than done, but more Australian content is vital for the whole industry and for viewers around the country as well.
