11wthHe was a bit out there on Lost and now he has his own freakish series, Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan.

In this eight-part travel-adventure series, actor Dominic Monaghan explores the remote corners of the globe in search of some of the most ‘badass animals in the world.’

And just a tip -do not attempt this at home.

In each episode Dominic takes the viewer along on an intimate, action-packed journey as he struggles to hunt down and get up close and personal with some of the most dangerous and elusive creatures known to man.

Along the way Dominic can’t help but encounter colourful locals, quirky experts and a host of creatures that inhabit the strange and wonderfully wild places on our planet.

Whether he’s in pursuit of a million swarming army ants in the rainforests of Ecuador, searching for a giant venomous centipede in the caves of Venezuela or facing off with a deadly scorpion in the arid deserts of Namibia, Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan never fails to remind us that ‘the getting there’ is the real adventure.

In this second episode Dom journeys in to the wilds of Venezuela in search of a remote cave rumoured to house the world’s largest centipede – Scolopendra Gigantica – an aggressive, venomous carnivore that is said to snatch bats right out of the air!

  1. I’m a fan of Monaghan as far as acting goes but I really don’t think we need another guy who goes into the wild and lets giant arthropods crawl on his face for the delight of children.

It doesn’t bode well as far as science content goes when they spell the name of the first ep’s main creature incorrectly. Should be “Scolopendra gigantea”.
