Extra Landline packaged for ABC

The ABC’s rural series Landline will gain a second programme next year with the announcement of Landline Mondays.

It will screen in the 6pm timeslot from February 11, previously the regular home for Message Stick.

The extra show will be presented by Anne Kruger, a reporter from the Australia Network team in Melbourne. Kruger moves to Queensland to front the show. She replaces Sally Sara, who left the program earlier this year.

Press Release:

Anne Kruger will be joining ABC TV’s Landline next year as the new presenter of the program.

Anne, who is an experienced reporter and presenter both in Australia and overseas, was most recently working with the Australia Network team in Melbourne. She is moving to Queensland next year and will present Landline from there.

She replaces Sally Sara, who left the program earlier this year to take up the prestigious Elizabeth Neuffer fellowship in the US. Pip Courtney, who has been temporarily filling in, will return to full-time reporting with the program.

As part of her duties, Anne will be presenting a new Monday edition of the program on ABC TV at 6.00pm. In addition to the existing one-hour edition of Landline on Sundays at noon, there will be a new half-hour edition of the program on Mondays, containing the best of that week’s stories, interviews and issues.

“I am delighted that the new Landline Monday will be part of the schedule for next year,” says Head of National Programs for ABC News, Alan Sunderland. “Landline is one of the News Division’s longest running and most successful programs, bringing rural and regional issues to a national audience. The new version will bring the best of rural and regional journalism to a wider audience”.

Landline returns to the screens on Sunday, February 10, at noon, and the first edition of Landline Monday will screen at 6pm on Monday, February 11.

  1. The story of Merino sheep is not well known in Australia when it should be.Male ownership in years past says that John MacArthur is responsible for Australias Merino when it was his Wife. Have story about the sheep which a gentleman connected with Jondarryan Woolshed said it was the best he had read. Is the ABC interested? Keith Dawson.
