Friday Night Lights, a drama by NBC Universal is one of ten shows nominated by the American Film Institute as one of the year’s best programmes.
But so far Network TEN hasn’t shown any indication of when it intends to air the show, set around a high school football team.
The AFI honours ten films and TV programmes equally.
The other selections this year include:
Dexter
Everybody Hates Chris
Friday Night Lights
Longford
Mad Men
Pushing Daisies
The Sopranos
Tell Me You Love Me
30 Rock
Ugly Betty
TEN has hinted Friday Night Lights may appear on TEN HD, but so far it isn’t scheduled.
The AFI will honour the creative ensembles for each of the selections at a luncheon on Friday, January 11, 2008 in Los Angeles.

Friday night lights…..Love it, love it, love it!
Can’t wait till it comes back on.
OMG Friday Night Lights!
I cant wait till it comes on
It looks soo great
You’re in luck.
I spied LAGUNA BEACH in an amendment today but haven’t published anything because I am only seeing 3 eps so far 12pm Mon – Wed Jan 7 – 9.
Because it’s so late in the year, I doubt that TEN would rush into playing OTH and Laguna Beach, although I’m almost certain that they WILL go to air on the HD channel in the near future.
Hell I wouldn’t be surprised if OTH plays on a daily basis in order to catch up with the US (or at least twice a week).
I doubt that either would be given early timeslots given the dismal ratings on the core channel, but TEN’ll play them out eventually.
I bought the first season of Friday Night Lights from Amazon and it is excellent. And addictive. I’d watch 4-5 eps in a sitting simply ’cause I couldn’t turn it off! If it ever emerges on TEN it is must-watch!
I know this seems slightly odd to ask but seeing as though we are on the topic of Ten shows that have an unclear future, do you know if Laguna Beach will be back on?
What about One Tree Hill? 🙁
i. want. tree. hill. 🙁
Maybe… just MAYBE… TEN are considering Friday Night Lights for their 2008 regular TEN schedule, since none of their new shows seem to be working.
Or maybe TEN are just waiting for the Xmas season to blow over before they screen FNL on Ten HD.
I’m still waiting for TEN HD to screen Everybody Hates Chris and The O.C. repeats (well, the latter is most likely a pipe dream, although I’d love to see it again on TV).
Doh, of course they are. Sorry 60 mins was for films only (VERY remiss of me, apologies!).
Yes seems Weeds was overlooked.
Here is a PDF of the eligibility for TV.

“30 Rock” and “Everybody Hates Chris” are half-hour shows (well, 22 minute shows, actually 🙂
Phil they have to be 1 hr minimum.
I was half hoping Weeds would get a mention in that list.
