"And thankyou for asking that question"

The second semi final of Eurovision took place earlier today and having seen it in its entirety, Serbia has again put on a great show.

They must have some great ideas up their sleeve for the Final.

Again here are some spoiler free highlights to look out for:

The second semi final is chockful of golden pop, with less of the comedy element that filters through the first. Quite a few numbers were very polished in their understanding of what makes a good three minute pop song (although one or two may be upstaged by the dancers).

Watch for pirates, entertainment’s quickest quick change, and William Shatner wearing Corey’s glasses (well he looked like it anyway).

There’s a special guest for true EV fans before the voting too.

I also spied some more empty seats, which must be very disappointing to all the volunteers. This is a question I managed to put to the Eurovision organisers at a Serbian Press Conference thanks to Alistair Birch at www.eurotragic.com

After Saturday’s second semi I will add an EV post including my favourite song choices, would love to hear yours if you’re quick! TV Tonight remains spoiler free until the contest has ended at 10:45pm Sunday AEST.

  1. my god, that irish entry was as popular as a burning hospital! as someone who is fluent in english i barely understood a word! good idea at the time im sure! Ireland sending dustin I reckon would be like us sending Kath and Kim..nobody would get it! Poor Andorra, That ‘Casanova’ song was amongst the best and most Euro-friendly of the night but such a boring performance!

  2. The Girls and I will be watching as usual but I wish we could get some unbiased voting from individuals. We all know the allocation of votes is a joke, based on who’s your buddy, and not on the merits of the song.

It is also interesting to see what constitutes Europe these days. I didn’t know it was so big 🙂

  3. I really like Icelands song, its pure, shameless, kitsch, oh-so-camp pop, I dont fancy its chances though, I think the Scandanavian bloc will be directing its votes to Sweden..I tell you, not looking at the results from either semi the last few days has been PAINFUL!
