  1. The Strip is still sinking lower and lower. I reckon Channel 9 should air Canal Road over summer in an 8.30 timeslot. Canal Road had similar ratings at 9.30 for its second episode on a wed night. Aussie Dramas need a decent go. Interseting rumour about Young Doctors moving into a 7pm timeslot, competing with the existing Home and Away market could be tough! We shall see what decision they make…

  2. Hey Jacket..

glad someone agrees with me about SN.. defintally not for 12-14 years old… I have got a couple 12 year olds converted to SN.. but still all the same, some episodes I would not let them watch.. I was so iffy about letting them see it as well.. i choice my episdoes well. It was halloween night so I thought it was okay.. need to convert them to sci-fi early now don’t we? -winks-

However.. still.. my point still stands.. SN is not aimed at 12-14 year old girls. thanks for agreeing with me.

The SN con is going to amazing.. too bad I’m off to Vancouver on Monday.. Oh wait… Vancouver…. the SN home state! =P I’m very excited.

  3. RichoTB … as a fan of Supernatural I am in my 50’s and have many male and female friends of similar age….. certainly not 12 -14yr olds…
There is a Supernatural Convention being held in Sydney in 2009 and I doubt it was the 12 – 14 age group who have sold out the $1400 and $800 tickets !!!!! in just a few weeks of release.
Supernatural’s popularity is over a wide range of age groups.

  4. That Ice Road Truckers figure isn’t too bad for only 4 markets. It’s rating higher than Download atleast.

@ Harry, surprisingly Better Homes actually consistantly wins 18-49’s, 25-54’s and on many occassions 16-39’s, but i’m guessing Potter would have won that demo last night.

  5. Breakfast should be on ABC1, but they can’t put it there and move the kids’ shows to ABC2 because imagine the whingeing from people who can’t be bothered to go out and buy a $50 set-top box from Dick Smith.

  6. I’ve been recording The Strip but haven’t watched it since the 3rd episode, might catch up with it over the summer. I still like Heroes but the bad 2nd season and writers strike took their toll on the once great show, ditto for Prison Break, it should have ended last season.

  7. TEN s**ts all over both of them. Honestly, I cant believe 2.5 men on 9 still rates and I cant believe so many people watch The Zoo and All Saints on 7. The Strip is quite boring as well. Horrible. The process they use to determine ratings is false and isnt accurate at all.

  8. Great to see TAR beat The Strip. The Strip is awful. Horrible acting, crappy scripts, just nowhere near as good as City Homicide. Vanessa Grey cannot act.

  9. Heroes has been epic this season, and infinitely better than season 2. They got rid of a bunch of useless characters and added a load more villains to even the sides out, and its gotten better as a result. NBC made a mistake by firing 2 producers I reckon, oh and it isn’t “bombing” in the US, sure it lost something like 3 million viewers between seasons 2 and 3, but its been up against juggernauts like Dancing With The Stars, which is America’s top-rated show next to American Idol, and after a 10 month hiatus its doing rather respectable figures. And saying it “doesn’t have a future” in America is just silly, just because the network bigwigs are screwing behind the scenes as usual doesn’t mean it will be axed, its still one of the highest-rating shows on that network. And as for critics, those people’s opinions don’t mean jack. They’re the folk that love pseudo-witty jargon like 30 Rock and Mad Men, and those are two of the most boring shows on TV IMO. I agree with the point that someone made about serialised shows being the new 10:30pm slot-fillers though. 24 has been airing there for years and thats one of the best shows on TV, and now LOST, Prison Break, and other shows are inhabiting that slot as well.

  10. What a reversal this week has been. Sunday and Thursday falling to 7, and Monday to 9 – albeit against a non competing 7. Had 7 stuck with new City Homicide Border/The Force, I have a feeling this would have been one of their biggest weekly wins outside the olympics.

Ten have stumbled across a hit in Criminal Intent again, timeslot winning and one of their highest rating shows.

9 absolutely fell apart, nothing over 1 million, skewing old and the always reliable RPA taking a big hit with increased competition from Bones. The Strip is really ruining their whole night.

Model, whilst poor in total figures is doing well in demos and is now winning it’s timeslot, could it get renewed? If it doesn’t I can see Jen defecting from 7 after her 1 year contract expires. Bones did well at 9.30, winning it’s timeslot in total people, 16-39’s, 18-49’s and 25-54’s. But it was the season 3 finale and could have done better if 7 bothered to update their own guides! Cannot believe Heroes once rated over 2mill, and has now become late night fodder.

  11. Benno, Heroes does not rate anymore, it lost its audience a long time ago and thats a reality. Channel 7 is a business and can’t be expected to shoot itself in the foot with their advertisers (whoes money allows them to exist in the first place to screen Heroes in any time slot) just to please a small portion of niche viewers.

If every network kept all their low rating shows on to “keep fans happy” they would all be out of business.

Obviously you like particular shows that have been moved and you’re passionate about that, but your expectations of what Channel 7 or any other network should do with low rating shows like Heroes are entirely unrealistic.

Channel 7 will not lose viewers in droves just because Heroes has been moved or Prison Break taken off, people don’t barr networks all together because of how they’ve dealt with one show (then they would deprive themselves of all the other programs – totall ridiculous). If they miss their shows that badly they can download them. Reality Check

  12. Why was Heroes on at 10-30pm last night? I got very confused myself.. could this be the reason for the low ratings on Heroes last night? Because 0.477 is bad even for Heroes!

  13. Considering that ABC3 is supposed to be ABC Kids, this would free up the main ABC1 channel to broadcast breakfast in due course (or move it to their 24/7 news channel they want)…

This is where the american style rating system would come in handy! What proportion of viewers, who can get ABC2, are actually watching the show…

  14. Disappointed that 7 killed my Thursday night but look forward to the fact that having Prison Break run during summer means we will see more than just 3 episodes till the end of ratings season. And hopefully with Heroes not doing so well they’ll just leave it on Thursdays during summer to run its course – unlike last year we were left hanging for 9 months for the last 2 episodes.

As a Heroes fan I understand why it is not performing well – story lines are getting complicated and very confusing for new viewers to pick up. Only die hard fans remain.

  15. That’s and embarrassing loss for Nine. Seven’s weakest night and they still get pumped by 4%. I don’t think we will be seeing The Strip next year and Seven must be wrapped MMAS won it’s timeslot. I get the feeling it may get a second season because it’s been consistently around 900,000-1million viewers each week.

  16. Benno, r u sure? i doubt anyone will think twice about watching another show on 7 just because of this, surely a very small few but nothing worth suiciding in the ratings.

especially as 7 probably has the best record out of the big 3 evils when it comes to axings. 10:30, i think is very appropriate, that is where serials shows that need strong fans to watch every episode will belong into the future and its very rare that a struggling show in america does well here.

i do sympathise with you about PB though, but i guess Nov 29 isn’t that far away now as opposed to if they pushed it to summer in january

  17. Heroes gets demos, bones does not. It is only a few weeks to go til the end of the ratings season, they are the winning network, surely they could afford to keep it on and keep fans happy. But no, they chose to ignore them, not tell them their shows are being replaced. That is not how to keep viewers happy. Just look at the channel seven message boards, go on. Holding off episodes months later, not truly fast-tracking the show, and always being late is the prime reason why it went downhill so quickly here. This could have easily been avoided. So yes, ratings are lower than they could be, but it is mostly 7’s fault. I don’t watch it on seven, so it doesn’t personally affect me either, but i don’t like to see other fans screwed over.

  18. @ benno, c’mon u couldn’t have seriously expected 7 to keep such low rating heroes at 9:30 especially when its not looking good in america and it obviously had no future there. even some of my extreem fan friends are saying it has lost it. i stopped watching after season 1 so i can’t speak personally.
with the #’s it was getting other networks would have axed it, ur lucky its on at 10:30. its just a shame PB had to go with it.

bones did better than i thought given the new timeslot and all. i guess the cliffhanger made a lot of people note that it was on and tune in

ABC news breakfast gets 6,000 viewers, imagine how few people meters that is.

good to see 2.5men getting more less than 1mils

  19. Why isn’t the ABC Breakfast show on ABC1?

Bones beat L&O SVU and RPA but still didn’t crack 1 million, did the season final suffer from being moved? hard to tell.

And Heroes with just 477k, no shock it’s down on the 624k it got last week. But at least it’s still on unlike Fringe, Prison Break, Burn Notice or 90210!
