‘Ramsays’ back to Ramsay Street

EXCLUSIVE: Neighbours is about to echo its roots as the Ramsay name plans a return to Erinsborough.

EXCLUSIVE: The Ramsay family name is heading back to Neighbours.

In a move that will hark back to the show’s beginnings, producers are introducing a new generation of the Ramsay clan.

The Ramsays and the Robinsons were the defining families of the show that started in 1985.

“At the moment (the writers) are looking at doing a family which is Ramsays,” a spokesperson told TV Tonight. “It’s being plotted at the moment.

“They will be younger, siblings, a new generation of Ramsays.”

But the new characters will not see a whole new family moving into its namesake street.

“It’s not a mum and dad but Ramsay siblings coming into the street.”

Some of the more famous Ramsay characters in Erinsborough have included Henry (Craig McLachlan), Shane (Peter O’Brien), and Madge (Anne Charleston) who married Harold Bishop.

Neighbours screens 6:30pm weeknights on TEN.

  1. They need to do something with this show, the new grittier looking version for me has taken off the polish of what was once a bright and fast moving show and although simple in plot and characters ….was still worth a look. The new look has been terrible, I had to turn up the brightness on my TV early on as the grade for me was way too dark…. this has only recently been rectified.

  2. for those people wanting a bit of multicultural Ramsay action… they could bring back Maria Ramsay who left the show rather abruptly in its Channel 7 days. She was played by a Polish actress IIRC.

  3. damo, as somebody who watches the show on a daily basis and as a huge fan I can safely say Neighbours wont be going anywhere.

It is not only looking up to date and fresh but since Susan Bower took over as the producer the storylines and cast have improved greatly and the shows ratings have also improved on what they were a year ago.

The show is one of Ten’s most watched shows and is Britan’s 4th higherst rated soap, so all is well with Ramsay Street.

  4. Don’t watch the show these day, I don’t recongise anyone from the 1980’s apart from Paul, Lou and Harold, who are all legends of course. I wish some of the past characters return to Ramsay Street.

  5. On second thoughts Craig Mclaughlen isn’t doing bugger all at the moment and i can’t see why he wouldn’t jump at the chance to become a regular ala Paul.

  6. Yes interesting…They could be the sons of Danny or Shane. This could lead to one of them appearing in the show later, the way Joe Mangle did after Sky reappeared as a teenager. Actually it was a shame Toby mangle didn’t return whilst Harold was still on the show as they were close when he was a kid.

Leo, Jaimie Clark returned breifly as a teenager, he was played by the guy who plays the married brother in Packed to the Rafters. But I agree would love to see some of those old characters back. Jane and Mrs Mangle, Scott and Charlene especially. Julie died, so I don’t think she’ll be back.

  7. Maybe there’s new Ramsay’s are Tom Ramsay’s kids or grandkids?
I’m sure Craig McLaughlen will come back for a few episodes, that would be fabulous.
The ultimate dream would be Scott & Charlene but they will never happen – god can you imagine the ratings!!!

  8. Some additional info from The Perfect Blend website. They are saying that there will be 3 new Ramsays and one of them will be Kate Ramsay, played by 18 year old Ashleigh Brewer. The other two characters will be her siblings who all come to Erinsborough after their mother dies in a car crash.

  9. Interesting..
And while it would be great to have a classic character like Henry or Shane I doubt the actors would wish to return. Having a new bunch of Ramsay’s related to a classic character is the next best thing.

  10. A great idea but again too focused on young teens. Another attempt for Neighbours to turn into a teen drama… Why can’t they bring back characters rather than introducing new characters? Haven’t we got enough of them already?

  11. Yeah all for bringing the ramsay’s back – but gotta be someone we know with their family… although we are neighbours fans we are not idiots and do remember the past /history of the ramsays quite vividly!

  12. Old characters they could bring back –
    Jane Harris (Annie Jones)
Des Clark & his son Jamie
    Paul’s siblings Lucy & Julie
They could also bring in Scott & Charlene’s kids, they could come to stay with their Uncle Paul.
If they pay Jason Donovan heaps, they could get him back for a few episodes dropping the kids off & staying a few days.
Paul is def a key character to bring in some old cast again, as he’ll be the only one that knows them, also Lou to some extent.
Whats Mrs Mangle doing now – maybe she could come in with Jane haha.

  13. im a Neighbours fan, but im starting to get worried this seems a very desperate move on TENs part, if they want to bring back “the Ramsays” you should bring back the ones we already know, not just two young Ramsays who we have not heard of before.

it would also only be Paul & Lou or might know them now.

Its kind of like Neighbours is becoming a new show by drawing on the past, kind of like BH 90120 & 90210

  14. I am looking forward to a ‘Ramsays’ return, Danny Ramsay’s kids maybe, or Shane’s. I hope this means we will be seeing a classic character permanently returning to the street.

  15. what the point? Couldn’t the producers bring back some of the classic Ramsay characters? Shane, Herny, Danny, Tom.. etc.

Neighbours is dire need of a strong nuclear family. not just younger siblings to make the show appeal more to the teens, Neighbours is a family show.
