SPOILER: Who survives the great rafting accident on 2008 is a tale that will kick off Neighbours 2009 season.

In the finale cliffhanger a harmless outing went awry, as they invariably do at that time of the television year. Several of the younger cast members, namely Bridget, Zeke plus Libby were placed in peril by those naughty storyliners.

The search is on for Bridget, Libby and Zeke who are missing after one of the boats from the rafting trip capsized. When two of the residents are found, hope starts to diminish as the light of day fades and it seems one life has been claimed by the river. Meanwhile, Steph finds herself falling for a man wth a dark secret.

  2. i don’t remember, but when the plane crashed years ago, didn’t connor and dylan go missing for awhile? but everyone thought they were dead? or something like that?
    i dnoo hahaa, but yeeah, it’s gonna be just like the roof collapsing, where they said like, libby or elle would die, and surprise surprise, jessica died.
    i hope one of zeke’s annoying friends dies, not zeke, i love zeke haha.
    but i prefer him as a nerd rather than a ‘tough kid’
    ohh, and i can’t wait for kym valentine to come back, it won’t be weird anymore:)

  3. Matt W that plays Zeke went on an extended family holiday which is why he has to be missing for a little while (from spoilers on BBBA forum)

    I really wanted Bridget to die, she is a whiny pain in the ass!! And I am sick to death of teen pregnancies – can’t we promote responsible use of contraception in this day and age!!

  4. yeah zeke doesnt die. but in a new story line for 2009 steph and libby think about having a fling with all the other flings that have happened on this show lately. its time for the show to be put way out to pasture

    Ok. Zeke Doesn`t Die. He Goes missing. I`m think another Storyline like when Harold went missing. He is away for a few months, as Matthew ? Who plays him needed time off to star in a Play.

  6. False promos? Hardly. As I pointed out – “1 lost” not “1 dead.” It’s meant to get everyone thinking that he’s dead then when he makes his return (again, I don’t remember the period, but the actor took time off for some reason – I don’t remember that either >_<) everyone is surprised, despite that Ten actually never advertised that he was dead.

  8. Ryan, Elle does not leave – Pippa Black who plays Elle had initially indicated early last year that she would not renew her contract however later last year she signed on for another year so she’ll be on our screens until at least the end of the year.

  9. No one dies. Read the thing even:

    “and it seems one life has been claimed by the river.”

    Key word: seems. Also note how Ten’s promos use the word “1 lost”, not “1 dead.”

    It’s assumed that Zeke is dead, but eventually (I can’t remember the period of time) he is coming back.

It’s still a bit up in the air as to who’s going to die – TV Week reported weeks ago that Libby gets found unconcious by Dan but apparently recovers and we can see that Bridget is fine which was to be assumed considering the ongoing pregnancy storyline. When it comes to Zeke, TV Week also reported that he’s “assumed” dead but Matt Werkminster (Zeke) did interviews a while back where he talked about what it’s like to be the last Kinski remaining in Ramsay Street after Caitlin Stasey’s departure, implying Zeke is alive to see her leave. I’m assuming it’s a minor character that bites the dust, maybe one of Zeke’s little buddies. Justin or someone.

    This feels just like the 2007 roof collapse cliffhanger, where promos advertised that a ‘favourite’ was going to die but the only death was minor character Jessica. Ha.

  11. Pietro, Kym Valentine had to take leave of absence from the show for a month because she had to rest up after coming down with an illness. Hence why Michala Banas was bought in. SHe was only needed for that month, and now Kym’s back.

    Has nothing to do with deciding which actress to play the character. 🙂

  12. No – one dies, there are no casualties. Zeke goes missing for a while and is presumed dead, this starts the new storyline or Karl going insane and Susan has a major MS relapse.

  14. ok people, it isnt zeke, it isnt libby and its not bridget, its one of the boys, prob justin, rachel is leaving but that isnt until feb and then she will still be in eps until jun, zeke goes on and so does bridget. another person who leaves around the time rachel leaves is elle, who also leaves in feb

  15. So glad Zeke will be gone. I have to disagree with redbullboy about last year being better than previous years. I think the show has really lost it’s way, I can not count how many times they did the stalker/crazy lover story line.

  18. Zeke doesn’t die, otherwise he would’ve said he left the show ages ago. Come on guys, if you come into a spoiler thread, you should know a thing or two about Neighbours.

  20. Clearly none of the major characters die as we would have known that ages ago.

    And dammit Kim Valentine is back,i liked that girl from McLeod’s. Kim is a crap actress.

  22. Pietro – Michaela Banas stepped in to play the role of Libby due to Kym Valentine (the original Libby) becoming ill. Important storylines involving Libby had already been developed when Kym became ill and needed time to recover and it wasn’t possible to simply write out the Libby Kennedy character until Kym became well enough to return to the set – hence the appearance of Banas. It wasn’t an issue of the producers and directors not being able to make up their mind which actor was going to play her.

    There’s heaps more spoilers for the 2009 season on the neighbours.com website including a video from the head writer giving some hints at upcoming storylines. Since Susan Bower took over as Neighbours head producer, the program has improved greatly. The storylines in 2008, I felt, were the best they had been in years and 2009 looks as if it will continue in the right direction.

    Plus the girl who plays Rachel, I forget her name, she is leaving the show around this time.

    The grief of losing her brother will make her leave town. But like she said they left it so she can come back.
