Some interesting decisions. New Simpsons and Medium on a Friday night? House at 9pm instead of its traditional 8:30pm. An “encore” of Life on Mars. Fastracked Lie to Me.

But for a network that has been notorious for programming changes in the last few months it’s good to see it reveal its hand with confidence and clarity.

Can it stick to its guns once Nine and Seven reveal their plans?

Your thoughts?

  1. Simpsons is probably a better fit for Friday than Tuesday – the show is ill-equipped to handle the Tuesday battleground and isn’t the ratings winner it once was years ago

Medium should have been saved, its one of the few series I would have thought that fans would actually wait to screen on FTA rather than download
The Wednesday 8pm;9pm;10pm starting times could be a way of TEN trialling the US system of programming?
It could also just be another desperate attempt to try and boost House’s low numbers. With the series to more than likely to be up against Criminal Minds & Underbelly come Feb, House is sure to be walked all over

  2. To waste Medium on a Friday night is an idiotic idea. I get why they’re doing it, but watch it fail – TEN will ruin yet another of their stable shows.

The sched is good….but I can’t think of much product they have left after this. Come Mid year there will be nothing but repeats on the network.

Its good to see WMC back.

Dexter 930 is a silly slot absolutely no flow from GNW, they should’ve held back Lie to Me and aired Dexter after NCIS.

If I were TEN, I would’ve tried a friday night games type show on Friday nights, they had success with it even when BB did go down the pooper.

Besides some silly timeslot choices and using all their product TEN have a great lineup. There’s alot I’d actually like to check out there.

OOTB at 6pm, whilst its great they’re playing it out, 1 episode a week, the show will last the entire year before anything is revealed about who the murderer is, I dont’ see it being a success.

  3. i will watch biggest loser, not really much for me here. a better lineup than the end of last year though.

i think bondi vet will rate well off the back of bondi rescue.

why is the first ep of SYTYCD up against the mens final. that will get about 2.5 mil most of which will be dance watchers. when people miss the first episode of something it throws out audiences for the whole season.
    it’s not even in ratings!!!

  4. So no Burn Notice, Supernatural or 90210?

Life on Mars US is good but only time will tell if it’s as good as the original, Lie To Me looks like another knock off of Psych and The Mentalist but I’ll check it out.

Looks like a good start apart for the missing above shows, any chance Starter Wife S2 will be added later in the year?

  5. They are taking a huge risk by airing some of their most popular programming all in the first half of the year, I hope they have a good plan for their second half.

It’s a pretty good schedule, moving shows like the Simpsons, Medium and Futurama to Friday was an excellent decision, which I hope works for Ten. If they can stick to this schedule, it should be an improvement on a very crappy 2008.

They will most likely premiere the Cleveland show after there are no new Simpsons episodes has run out of new episodes, probably followed by a simpsons repeat. If only they could perhaps aquire the rights to American Dad and Family Guy. If not, I’ll be glad if Channel 7 air these in prime time on their new multichannel.

  6. WTF?!

New Simpsons and Futurama on a Friday?! You’ve got to be freakin’ kidding me! >:( Are they trying to kill these two shows? These two shows are already dying in the ratings no thanks to appalling scheduling and even worse lead-ins.

While I’m glad that new episodes of Simpsons and Futurama are screening back-to-back, I’m just speechless that they’re airing them on a Friday of all days. New episodes of either show have never aired on a Friday.

    Not happy TEN!

But I guess with The Biggest Loser and SYTYCD eating up their schedule, they had no other choice but to squeeze it in on Fridays. I just hope that it rates well.

By the way David, are these episodes of Bondi Rescue the remainder of the “Bali” series, or are these entirely new episodes?

  7. I can’t believe they’re putting Life On Mars on at 9:30pm. I’ve already seen the first 7 eps of the US version they’re playing, and it’s close to a PG rating!

  8. the new simpsons on Fridays? Unless it’s for a short while once So you think You Can Dance and Biggest Loser specials finish, and the New Simpsons can go back to Tuesdays. The rest of the scedule is fine

BTW, is ‘The Doctors’ a drama? Dr Phil is gone? Hopefully 🙂

  9. Women’s Murder Club only has 13 episodes available so it will probably be replaced by In Plain Sight or something along those lines. I hope they can keep the 10.30pm Friday time slot open and burn off some shows there.

Dexter only has 12 episodes available (I am assuming they will not be able to air season 3 straight away) so Supernatural could go there in three months time.

  10. I’m happy that they’re showing the new episodes of The Simpsons in February this year but on a Friday!?!

And new Futurama? Channel TEN aired all the new episodes they have available so far which Comedy Central has aired. I don’t think Bender’s Game has premiered yet in America?

  11. Looking forward to Medium & Good news week. Can’t believe Friday night for Medium.
Can believe the amount of Simsons – urrggghhh. No thanks to Bondi Vet , Bondi Rescue,Bondi Swimsuit Festival or Bondi fete. What is thinking with repeat of Women’s Murder Club – just wish they have Murder mystery night on Network – say Weds Medium, Womens Murder Club, In Plain Sight etc..
their Weds night with 8,9,10 looks wacky.( I wont be watching) Lie to me and Life on Mars might be worth a look but “I just dont know”. Biggest Loser will hook me in – like usual as will NCIS.
Forget the dance crap. overall I give them a 5/10.

  12. I don’t like Guerrilla Gardeners as a lead in to House, but I am glad Life is coming back.

I think they are repeating Women’s Murder Club so they can air the three unaired episodes. It is a good fit with Medium and Law and Order. If that Friday line up works we might not see About A Boy or Love Actually again until next Summer. Imagine that. New Simpsons and Futurama seems a waste on Friday nights. They could air repeats there and would still get the same results.

I wonder what NSW will get instead of the AFL?

Will The Office continue after Rove?

  13. supernatural is noticeably missing, the fast-tracking is over on that one it seems, there’s gonna be a lot of angry fans, especially with the stars coming to australia in april it is going to be awkward asking questions at the convention when they haven’t gone to air here yet, plenty of people are going to get spoiled and the internet downloads are going to sky-rocket.

  14. Oh didn’t notice Medium on Friday’s. What an odd move, I can’t see that paying off. Ten should have kept it as a replacement for some of their other shows mid year. Their second half would seem very bear indeed.

  15. That is a pretty sexy schedule there. Seems to flow quite well. Those odd starting times for House and Guerrilla Gardeners are the only faults I have with that sched. Love Dexter Mon 9.30, and OOTB 6pm Sunday’s. Their Thursday looks very solid too.

  16. Wow there’s some weird stuff going on here. Dexter at 9:30 Mondays following GNW? And I’m surprised Rove is coming back so early, the last few years he’s come back usually around Easter. I think its a mistake for Ten to premiere what could turn out to be 2 good hits for them, Life on Mars and Lie to Me, in 9:30pm timeslots when they could be giving them a better slot in place of other ailing series. House was doing terribly, pulling figures of around 700k a few months ago with its new season, Ten should have been smart and premiered Lie To Me there. And I reckon they should have swapped SVU with Lie on Mars to give it a decent shot, SVU already rates in the 1mill+ range in the 9:30 slot. It just seems like they aren’t even trying anymore.

    Some other random observations:

-Medium on Fridays? They’re pretty much premiering all their shows in the first quarter. The only series I can think of which they’re holding back are L&O: CI, Numb3rs, BN and Supernatural, the last 3 of which rate terribly. What will they do come July when they’ll have scarcely any new content to show? Run back into repeats?
-And why on earth bother with Women’s Murder Club repeats? That show is woeful and was axed for a reason. If they’re really going to repeat shows they should use this slot for Eureka, Journeyman, or another of those kind of shows.
-Good News Week should have been pushed back to 9:30, the slot could have easily been a good place for one of Ten’s new shows.
-No Merlin to be seen. I wouldn’t be surprised if this show was thrown to Fox by the end of the year

  17. Very strong line-up for Ten. Finally something good on Friday nights too!
Although I don’t think they have anything left for the rest of the year besides Rush…
