Axed: Fresh

Nine's morning cooking show lacks a sponsor and calls on Kerri-Anne Kennerley to come to the rescue.

pevansNine’s morning cooking show Fresh has been axed.

Previously known as Fresh Cooking with the Australian Women’s Weekly, the show hosted by Pete Evans has been unable to secure a sponsor.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the cheapest option for Nine is to extend the two-hour Mornings With Kerri-Anne to 11.30am each day, with the morning news pushed into Fresh’s slot.

“We’re a very flexible program and we normally have more ideas than we have time to fit them in,” Kerrie-Anne Kennerley told the newspaper.

She points out the show already has cooking segments with Lyndey Milan and Mike Moore, or the show could open up to extra forums.

“There are so many areas for discussion and maybe we can put some more meat on those forums with big panels discussing them.”

  1. What the ? Who is this idiot on Alive and Kicking? I can’t believe ch 9 has axed Fresh. After 2 minutes of watching Alive and Cooking on Monday morning I switched off. Fresh had simple ideas for every day cooking It has helped me bring easy and tatsy meals to the dinner table since I became a stay at home mum. I’m thinking who ever the funding manager for channel 9 is should get a big kick up the backside. Surely with their massive budgets they can bring back our show !! And If the had any sense in the mean time get rid of Alive and cooking because channel 9 veiwers are dead and stiff watching this show .

  2. I have been watching “Fresh” in it’s various incarnations, religiously since it started with “what’s cooking” in 1992. This replacement program is almost painful to watch! I do think that Fresh was never the same after Geoff Jansz, the best TV chef ever, was given the flick. But what I don’t understand is why, after they brought in a new presenter, Ben O’Donohue and even renovated the set suddenly it’s gone?!?! Wasn’t Womans Weekly the sponsor? What were they thinking pulling their support? Looks like I’ll have to turn to the bad jokes and constant teatowel wielding plate wiper Huey! What has the world come to?

  3. Nine amazed me a few weeks ago by not broadcasting the bushfire celebrity charity cricket match, instead they showed a best of 60min.

Fresh was a great show. As a stay at home Dad, I often picked up some recipe ideas that were simple and healthy.

No over the top presenters or silly contests, just informative material.

    Thanks again ch9.

  4. You have just axed the best cooking show on TV. Fresh was simple and great for everyone to follow. I just tuned in to the new show Alive and Cooking and only watched the 1st 15 minutes as the host is a hopeless presenter and his “not funny” banter is painful to watch. I will not watch it anymore.
    Bribg back Fresh.

  5. I dont care what is put on just please get rid of the ridiculous informercials on 9am, kerrianne, and the morning show. They are what makes me not want to watch any of them!

  6. Perhaps, Seven could extend the two-hour The Morning Show to 11.30am and Ten could also extend the two-hour 9am with David & Kim to 11.30am, too???

  7. Wow! Just last week I saw an ad for this saying that it was the most popular daytime cooking show. Now this!

If no one sponsors it, why don’t Nine pay for it themselves?
( I wonder how people are going to respond by saying: “channel nine are too cheap!” )

  8. How bout Ch9 take the WIN network show Alive and Cooking. That way you still have 30 minutes of cooking lessons on FTA across the country on the 9 network.

Remember after Ellen didn’t work on Ch10 the 9/WIN networks – then WIN alone – picked it up…now we see it weekly on 9/WIN, and in most cases within hours of the original broadcast.

The above example shows if a network persists with a show it can work.

  9. How about The Nanny? or Seinfeld?

    Trust me.

More uni students, unemployed and kids wagging will watch Seinfeld or The Nanny over KAK and her infotainment spewing minions.

  10. Today’s papers report at 13% drop in eating out… and only a 1% increase in takeaways therefor we must be cooking more… and they ax the only show on free to air TV that actually offers real ‘cooking lessons”

    Very clever…

  11. Seriously…… Channel 9 could give every one of you a Million Dollars, and you’d still jump on the “hate 9” bandwagon and complain.

Get over it…. it’s just morning television.

  12. Kerri Anne’s Advertorial show is brainless and too long as it is.

I’m amazed a commercial channel can’t afford a cooking show without a major sponsor! It’s a better show than Ready Steady Cook because you can actually learn something from it while being entertained but was better in it’s older guise(s) without the Women’s Weekly’s intervention/ads.

Nine, put on a test pattern and save viewers a few brain cells rather than extending K-A.

  13. How about this:
    11 News
    11.30 Ellen
    12.30 The View
1.30 Days of our lives (back where it was)
    2.30 ET
3.00 Bewitched or Jeannie or similar
    3.30 Hi-5/Humphry etc
Silly to have a morning show finish later.

  14. I’d rather them move Entertainment Tonight to 11.30am its original timeslot and have sitcom reruns or something at 3pm. Kerri-Anne extension would just mean more advertorials.
