Airdate: Random Acts of Kindness. Bumped: homeMADE

karlsIt seems the first ‘random act of kindness’ by the Nine Network was to renovate Sunday nights and extract homeMADE.

As speculated, tipped, hinted and debated, Nine has officially dropped its Sunday edition, from Sunday June 14th.

It will be replaced by the premiere of Random Acts of Kindness, jointly presented by Karl Stefanovic, Scott Cam and Simmone Jade Mackinnon in the 6:30pm timeslot.

Nine’s big new renovation series, will now air once a week on Tuesdays at 7:30pm.

Random Acts of Kindness promises to “grant wishes and make dreams come true when they head into a community and find someone special who deserves recognition for giving their all to deserving people or causes.”

In the first episode Stefanovic will meet with a horse handler in the NSW Snowy Mountains, who teaches troubled kids to ride.

Scott Cam meets a mother whose three babies were born prematurely, inspiring her to set up Miracle Babies, a charity and support group based in Sydney’s west.

Tierney Jasper, presented by Simmone Jade Mackinnon meets a fundraiser who walked 60 kilometres to raise $5000 for Ronald McDonald House when she was just eight years old.

The removal of homeMADE follows disappointing figures for the show and tough competition from Merlin and Sunday Night. Many have argued the content did not warrant two episodes and might have fared better once a week. But Nine, which had approved the series before the economy tumbled, had made sponsor commitments. It should be grateful it didn’t go ahead with a plan to strip it five nights a week.

Others noted the show lacked the soapy storylines of The Block, also created by Julian Cress and David Barbour, and cast plenty of young, sexy designers.

While it isn’t entirely clear at this stage, so far the network seems to be settled on running out the episodes in full on Tuesdays -meaning a later conclusion, rather than any re-editing.

With Nine’s Tuesday nights in third place it may not get that luxury, particularly now the network has blinked.

  2. We would like to put lisa krause on random acts of kindness because she dedicates her time teaching kids how to skip in her own (spare time).she trains the jumping jack we are a group of skippers trained by lisa. We are going to Queensland to compete agaist other skippers.lisa is also a teacher which means she she trains us as well as loooking after her own class.I think she deserves a random act of kindness. In 1-2 years time she is leaving our school. She spends nearly all her time helping people, ordering skipping ropes and flights. If she does get on your show we need a skipping hall so we can make it a club for when she leaves.lisa is a lovely person with a beautiful nature.

  3. Thank you so much for RAOK – in this sad world of war, drugs, and tv programs depicting the sordid side of life, it is so uplifting to see such good people being rewarded for their efforts. I do wish we had many more happier shows. It makes for a happier start to ones working week. Congratulations! Helen

  5. I love this show, there should more everyday people recognized for how much they give without expecting anything in return. I’d love to know what some of the songs are that the show uses, can I look them up somewhere?

  6. With all that’s going on in the world, it’s such a refreshing change to see the media doing something good for people who deserve it.

Thanks a lot – this kind of show means a lot of things to a lot of people, not just the recipients of the Acts of Kindness.

  8. I like the show very much but on last weeks show I think what was done was a bit out of disportion. The lady who saved the pets could have forgone having the man come out from America and the granparents viewed later could have had at least a full anexe for the caravan as with children in wet weather they would need more cover for extra space. These grandparents have done a wonderful thing which is only going to get harder as they get older.

  9. I watched Random Acts of Kindness and the story on Pets Haven and i had tears running down my face. What you guys did for Trish was amazing. She is an amazing lady. My heart goes out to her and all her friends and collegues that help her at Pets Haven. I have looked at her website and have told a family member to adopt a dog from her shelter.

  10. Hi

  11. Awesome show, especially love that your helping Trish from Pet Haven, whom I have met, and was in awe of the passion and work she does.

Have been to Pet Haven, any help anyone can provide is always appreciated by her and her wonderful helpers.

Also have a rescued wonderful little cat – she rescued from death row.

Great show, God bless you all, and thank you from your community.

  12. Hi! just wanted to say I think this show is absolutely great & is giving some very deserving giving Australians something back!! I don’t know how to get onto the nine msn webpage, but I wanted to let you guys know of another extraordinary person. This lady is Loraine Fox & she lives in Mt Morgan, Qld. She was first my foster mother almost 20 years ago & since then have remained life-long friends! Since she fostered me, her & her husband also fostered other people that were in need of help. Some appreciated the help, like me, others didn’t. As well as all this, her & her husband adoped 2 then down-syndrome babies, who I’ve had the absolute pleasure of seeing grow up, 1 is currently engaged & wants us to come to his wedding in 3 years! On top of all this, Loraine is also a breast-cancer survivor. My husband & I were able to be there for her over the 2 & 1/2 months radiant treatment which really knocked her for 6, but despite that, she was there for us as well & formed a really great bond with our beautiful girl! So thats the shortened version of our extraordinary friend who I think is very deserving of this sort of show too!
