Gone: Dance Your Ass Off. Returning: Old Christine, CSI: NY

Try not to look surprised. The fat show is gone as Nine overhauls its entire Tuesday night line up.

marissa-jaret-winoker-hostTry not to look surprised.

We all saw this comin’ as soon as it was announced. But it was pretty clear Nine was going all out with a do-or-die move with Dance Your Ass Off. Consider it dead, and jot it down as one of those titles we’ll all reference when we get to the end of the year and look back and ask “what the hell were they thinking?”

The show is no more. As of next week it’s more Two and a Half Men at 7:30pm followed by the return of New Adventures of Old Christine.

At 8:30pm, yes it’s more 20 to 1 with a new episode.

At 9:30pm CSI: NY returns with “The Box” S5E09 followed by “The Triangle” S5E10 ( a week later the 10:30 slot is a repeat)

Nine has even pulled Little Britain as a result. That’s an awful lotta changes.

So far Nine News is still intact at 11:30pm but hey, they still have a few days up their sleeve.

  1. Well Ch9 are true to form. Dump a show, they shouldn’t have aired it anyway.
Ch9 are airing more 2.5 men and CSi and 20 to 1. I agree with the Lewis and GuanoLad. Is this really all they can offer……… I don’t watch any of them!

  2. At least we get Old Christine back, but for how long?

At this rate Ch9 will need a 2nd GO! channel for all the failed shows it will need to find a home for and the main channel will be nothing but 2.5 Man and 20 to 1 re-runs…

  3. I’m not sure why no one else hasn’t made this connection. Nine are screening these horrificly cheap and nasty pieces of programming and then shifting them straight to GO99. Whilst it doesn’t do any good for Nine SD, it’s a great way of exposing their programs to a wider audience and then saying, if you like it then you can find it here on our new channel. Besides, they really have nothing to lose by doing this- their ratings slide for this year is already cemented!

  4. Nein makes me laugh!

What they don’t achieve with their programs they sure manage with their colossal programming blunders.

And to think they took Ice to court over it…

    hahahaha

  5. Should not have been on to start with. As for Perfect Couple, like HomeMADE, it will remain as its locally produced. I guessed 20-1 would replace Dance, was close. 2.5 Men. Same deal. Still a very poor Tuesday night line up.

  6. not suprised that nine has kicked ass but i was hoping it would last another week so it could be thumped even more australias pefect flop will be next i would say

    9 could do a 20 to 01 called 20 to 01 the biggest flops on channel 9

  7. I find it appalling the way Nine use Old Christine as filler. It rarely get screen more then 5 episode consecutively. I even try taping it but that doesn’t work when they don’t screen it. Sorry, but I won’t be back this time.

  8. I can’t believe they still rely entirely on Two and a Half Men, 20 to 1, and CSI, to give them ratings. If you were to look at their schedule a year ago, two years ago, would it look virtually identical to today?

  9. Wow.

    That’s surprising.

Nine ought to stop and think about why it didn’t rate, rather than filling the gap with more 2.5 Men and 20 to 1.

  10. Not surprized by Dance been axed. But annoyed that season 5 of CSI: NY is scheduled in yet another time slot, and to late for the printed TV guides. At least I go the series “from other sources” 😛

  11. After booting Ass Off after one horribly rated episode how long do you think they’ll give Australia’s Perfect Couple which scored the exact same low ratings just one night later?

  12. I thought it would at least last 2 weeks not 2 days. I guess Nine have no dignity left at all. LOL. More 2.5 Men and 20 to 1. Surprise. They are so one dimensional. The should just not program anything and have a black screen Tuesday night. I actually might watch Channel Nine then. So will they stick with Perfect Couple. Did just as bad.

  13. lol, i knew it would get cancelled but i though it would take more than one week, so this means that nine devoted 1 and a half hour to a show last week which will never be seen again. how can anyone one keep track off all this changes, people dont even now what will be showing on nine week for for week cause there’s no consistency, they just completely revamped there Tuesday night line up! the programming depart at nine must be a bunch of pot smokers lol.

  14. Dance didn’t rock the competition’s asses off. It was a risk Nine took which could have easily been the next big thing but Generation provided a lot better entertainment. Dance should move to GO! next month. Love Christine so I will be watching Nine again on Tuesday even if some shows are timeshifted. 20 To 1 and CSI:NY look like stronger performers so hopefully Nine will improve next week.

At least Christine and CSI:NY will return for another go as we are behind and 20 to 1 should provide stronger competition for Rafters and NCIS than this weeks Dance and Men.

I have found Nine pretty weak on Tuesdays over the year even though there have been some good ones like Wipeout (the US one could return to Tuesdays) and Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Ten has been the standout with NCIS, Bondi Rescue, Generation and Lie To Me but as NCIS is in repeats, there is time for Nine’s shows. Also enjoy Rafters and I am glad that does well.

    1. Nine’s strategy is often to follow bad news with good, or bury it amongst other news. A bit like politicians leaking bad news at Xmas time, when it won’t get analysed. To dump Ass on its ass after one day is a great headline. They avoid it by holding it and announcing more new shows such as Rescue and Farmer instead.

  15. [deadpan] I’m stunned.

That didn’t take long to happen. Once more, Nine reshuffling around their schedule and alienating viewers. Here we go again.
