Bumped: So You Think You Can Dance. Gone: Go Girls

TEN has moved on its Friday programming, following a dismal share on Friday. Enter: The Simpsons.

cat-deeleyTEN has moved on its Friday programming, following a dismal share on Friday of just 14.6%.

So You Think You Can Dance will now playout later in the evening, following an hour of The Simpsons and a movie. This week it screens Never Been Kissed at 8:30pm then Nanny McPhee and The Break Up in coming weeks.

That pushes Dance (this week with Katie Holmes) back to 10:30pm. As a result the NZ drama Go Girls is out of schedule. TEN was clearly gaining local drama points for this one, but it has to play between 5-11pm to qualify, as Out of the Blue does. Maybe it will return after Dance ends on September 4th, with Talia Fowler’s appearance.

Aug 21st
7:00pm The 7pm Project
7:30pm The Simpsons Hour
8:30pm Friday Night Movie – Never Been Kissed
10:45pm So You Think You Can Dance
1:15am Sports Tonight
1:45am The Late Show With David Letterman
2:30am Californication rpt

TEN is already fiddling with Dexter too, now out to a 9:50pm start tonight (thanks for the late notice, guys: 5pm!) with Good News Week running for 80 minutes.

  1. I am so annoyed with Channel 10 for moving SYTYCD to 10.40 at night.
I loved Friday nights after a hard week at work. Watching this show is amazing and I, like many others are wondering who controls the ratings. Who are these people and where are they? Myself and my friends couldn’t believe it when the Simpsons came on followed by an old boring movie. Surely that would not have rated higher. Wake up Channel 10 and stop messing with the people who keep the TV stations going – The Viewers.

  2. Fail on Channel 10’s behalf. SYTYCD was something that a lot of people look forward to every week. You only have to look in the Contact Us section of the Channel 10 forums to see how many people are annoyed and angry about this programme change.

Besides, who needs to see anymore Simpsons in their week. We get atleast 1 show a day, most of them reruns, and if you have foxtel…you get more episodes of the simpsons than most people can handle. The Simpsons aren’t nearly as good at promoting a healthy lifestyle as SYTYCD. Dance also promotes following your dreams, something teens and little kids need to follow.

I won’t be watching Channel 10 anymore. I’ll Youtube the new shows.

  3. The very least Ten could have done was advertise that they had moved SYTYCD. This was one show my daughter and I looked forward to sitting down together on a Friday night and watching. I loathe the Simpsons. It isn’t television for kids at all and shouldn’t be aired in its current timeslots. Luckily I have the option of switching off – and I do!

  4. cannot believe that SYTYCD got bumped myself and many many of my friends put aside friday night going out etc..to watch this show… cannot believe it was not more widely advertised…. very rude of Ch 10 ..for those of us who only watch this show on TV …. very disappointing.. so now we watch nothing at all … guess we will just go out…

  5. This is where the problem lies. Most of the target Audience for SYTYCD and Go Girls are either working or go out with family or friends on Friday Nights and Yes most of Australia has late night Friday Shopping. Then theres the 13 to 30 somethings who go to Church but thats another classification

  6. Oops! Let me take back what I said about Southern Cross Ten. It looks like they’re following Network TEN all through the night. That’s good news for regional Letterman fans…

  7. Why do commercial channels never give NZ dramas/comedies a chance? This isn’t the case with kiwi ob-docs. Could anyone really believe that Neighbours at War is better viewing than Go Girls of Outrageous Fortune. These shows really could be ratings success, but are put on too late and not advertised so it is no wonder they fail to find substantial audiences. Stuff you, Ten.

  8. They never went ahead with the plan for an extended bulletin for news over at Channel 10.

Parents with Young Children would be outraged. It was bad enough losing Taken Out and Putting Bold on at 6pm last year over the summer now that.

Besides with that 7pm Project Now would they really need to put in an extra thirty minutes at 6pm.

  9. Good decision by TEN, that show rated so low it just wasnt funny anymore! Dont mind the Simpsons though, at least it helps TEN a little in the ratings department. US Loser/Dance clearly dont work. Go Girls should get the hour spit before Idol on Sundays. Might do well with a few decent promos…

  10. When will all the networks realise that in this age of the internet, they can’t be showing Reality competition shows weeks or months after they begin in the US?? I know that everything can’t be shown, but the major popular shows like Survivor, TAR and Dance should be shown as close to the US premiere’s as possible.

You don’t even have to specifically go looking for who won or who was eliminated as somewhere, on some page, it will name names.

People will find ‘other means’ of watching these shows before our networks show them, so we see the winner as the US does, and then wonder why the shows don’t rate when they finally air them!

If the Average Joe (me) can understand this, why can’t the Heads of Programming??

  11. Had to sit through Go Girls last friday and it was rather dull. I’d rather more Outrageous Fortune than that again so it wont be missed by me. And i’ll certainly settle for simpsons repeats over more reality tripe. Free to air is pretty much all i watch for repeats now and it suits me just fine.

  12. Commercial television in Australia – the only place where if you cant see a program live, you need to record 2 hours to hopefully capture a 60 minute program. Only the 2nd episode of Dexter and they are buggering about with it.

  13. This is ridculuous! Why is it that no one watches the shos i watch. i agree US SYTYCD and Go Girls were great! I really enjoyed them I agree that NZ shows are really quite good. Outrageou Fortune is one of my fave shows!

  14. Well that just sucks. I can see why they felt they needed to do it but it still sucks. Honestly we get the television we deserve which now includes more 2.5 Men, The Simpsons and crappy documentaries like Border Patrol.

  15. Ten sux. Go Girls was an awesome show. I think channel GO! should pick it up as part of their thursday night ‘Go Girls’ line-up. I have loved channel ten for so many years, but GO! is a million times better.

  16. Ten could have the option of screening Go Girls at 11:00pm as an ‘expensive but underrating Australian drama series’. Wonder if they will try!
