  1. @Nathan from The Extra Source. I’ve seen a couple of your comments that seem to include quotes like “And i agree her dad would of got her the job at Nova”. Mate sorry to be pedantic but if you’re flogging your blog can you say ‘would have’ or ‘would’ve’. ‘Would of’ is so wrong. cheers.

  2. I feel sorry for Carrie. Now she’s left Rove, and leaving her radio role to focus purely on The 7pm Project.

I have a feeling someone will be in the Centrelink line before the year is out…

  3. It’s just so embarrassing that Rove is Australia’s only tonight show host at the moment.

If you get the chance have a look at some of these British guys – Graham Norton, Jonathan Ross or Alan Carr.

All have incredibly creative, diverse, entertaining and funny shows.

    And then watch Rove…..sigh.

  4. Great replacement ! She’s a really good newsreader and always funny when Merick and Rosso talk to her – actually she’s often funnier than them !

  5. This is a good choice, she’s the definitely got the voice for this segment. I don’t think, however, that she’ll be any funnier than Carrie (I’ve seen a lot of people complaina bout how unfunny Carrie is).

  6. In regards to the segment remaining i think think they were damned if they did…. damned if they didn’t. It’s easy to say to retire it, but then that would require something else ‘outside the square’ to be thought up. It could have been shelved, thus not needing to recruit another person to the team.

I would have rotated “at the newsdesk” with various 10 personalities (primarily from the news department). I’d get random reporters from the newsroom (be it news/sport/weather). Imagine Mike Larkin or Tim Bailey trying to show more of a sense of humour than what they already do….. probably would be a turn off for some, or most people.

  7. It’s a shame my fav comic Judith Lucy has joined Rove cos now I have to watch it. No I think I will tape it and fast forward to Rove’s crap. He is so overated it’s a joke. He should bin the US tonight show ideas. They have some crap tonight shows but Rove would put the yanks to sleep….

  8. @ David
I wasn’t meaning to come off as harsh! I was trying to make the point that there are lots of really talented successful people who have just happened to also have talented successful parents – it doesn’t mean they’re any less deserving than anyone else – just that I really do wish I was that lucky 🙂

Maybe the old adage is true the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. I wish her the very best of luck 🙂

  9. I love the news segment – it’s one of the best parts of the show I think it’s great and don’t care what anyone says – and I don’t know why people are being mean about this girl, why does everyone have to be so negative about everything???

  10. It’s who you know……………..

    Kate Hudson
    Keifer Sutherland
    Gywneth Paltrow
    Liv Tyler

Just to name a few who have successful parents…………… if only we were all so
    lucky!

  11. She’s actually a pretty good newsreader on Nova – I believe she won the Commercial Radio Awards newsreading category a year or two ago – so she’s not just there thanks to her family connections.

  12. I don’t think audiences will warm up to a new Carrie. Sure, audiences enjoyed people filling in when Carrie was absent (i.e. giving birth etc) but they always knew Carrie would be back.

  13. Sorry tomothy, I don’t agree. I was so over those segments and just seeing them in your post makes me bored. They seem so outdated now. I love the news segment! It’s what I look forward to the most on that show. Very funny!

  14. Just scrap the news segment, it’s not funny.
We need the good old days of Rove with What The?, 60 Seconds at Your House, Roving With Rove, Tell Us Where To Go, etc.
