Seven flips Double Take and TV Burp

It's an idea that has been mooted by some readers here, and Seven has decided to pursue it.

From August 13th, TV Burp will air at 8:30pm with Double Take at 9pm.

As to why? Let the speculation begin!

  1. i think its not only that TV burp is the funnier of the pair, but that should one of them have to be axed, double take would be the obvious choice, considering how much more it costs to make per episode.
Good choice though, id prefer TV Burp to be first. But i dont think Double Take is all that bad; whats wrong with ‘obvious TV parody’?

  2. I called it. TV Burp is easily the better of the two programs. Double Take should just not be on tv at all. THis will help ratings at 8.30 but then what? From 9pm it’s downhill.

  3. TV Burp seemed like a show I thought would be stretching for material and lame, but it’s actually genuinely really funny and really well put together.

It’s now on my record every week list. Nice to actually see a show like this work here in Aus.

  4. Doesn’t matter why all that matters is now I can avoid Double Take! From now on I’ll be taping TV Burp and watching 20-1 a much better arrangement! Hopefully it’ll get those DT numbers at 8.30 as well and stay on air.

  5. Good move Seven. I record Seven on a Thursday night and while I am watching Double Take, I am so close to hitting the fast forward button to get to TV Burp. DT may be made by the Comedy Inc. people, but it is much less funny then Comedy Inc, which is my favourite sketch comedy show of all time. TV Burp is much more hilarious then DT. I would actually like to see the headline “Axed: Double Take” but what would Seven put in it’s place?

  6. This spells the end for Double Take. Some viewers, like me, left DT on just to wait for TV Burp to start. I think after watching the far better TV Burp, viewers will no longer need to stay on 7 afterwards. Goodbye to rubbish TV.

  7. I watched a bit of Double take last week, but found it boring.

However, I think TV burp has potential, and will continue to watch it.

Thank goodness these shows aren’t on channel nine! (I don’t need to say why)

  8. I’m just glad that I won’t have to sit through Double Take to get to TV Burp anymore, but I also think this is a top decision by Channel 7. TV Burp goes better with the family friendly lead in of The Amazing Race than Double Take does.

  9. Double Take is the same old recycled rubbish. TV Burb has potential, even though it was done years ago on Foxtel with Tony Squires, and later James O’Loughlin. Have forgotten the name of it.

  10. I much prefer TV Burp, which has many more lol moments. Double Take is mostly flat, but has its moments of brilliance.

But it’s an interesting choice, seeing as TV Burp has lost audience from Double Take both weeks it’s been on air.

  11. Makes total sense.

    1) Double Take’s content is racier.
    2) TV Burp looks (to me) as if it is the stronger of the two programmes. and the better hook to keep viewers on Seven.

  12. Because TV Burp was slightly funnier than Double Take on Night 1? And that’s not saying much. I won’t be watching beyond Night 1. Gone are the days of Comedy Company and Fast Forward! 🙁

  13. And unlike channel 9 they do it for Thursday next week, not this week so there will be time for printed guides to be correct and the viewers will know what is going on. Channel 9, please take note!
