Gone: Out of the Blue. Returning: Don’t Forget the Lyrics

TEN tries to lift its Sunday nights by dumping Out of the Blue.

outoftheblueTEN has dropped Australian soap Out of the Blue effective immediately.

The show has been airing on Sundays but with a dismal return. Last week at 5:30pm it had just 216,000 viewers. TEN has been airing the show for the value of its local drama points. What was produced as a daily show has been seen only as a weekly soap for much of the year.

It will be replaced by a new season of musical US game show Don’t Forget the Lyrics from this Sunday.

In doing so the 6pm Simpsons repeat is also out.

TEN had a tough night on Sunday coming fourth behind the ABC. Clearly its flagship Idol show needs a better lead-in.

No word if Out of the Blue will return at a later date.

  1. i have just gotten back into watching out of the blue on youtube. but i am unable to watch every episode. i have no idea where to buy dvd or if they have dvds for this series. but i hope so because i would love to see what has happened.

  2. i like out of the blue. Yeah, some of the acting leaves a bit to be desired but you get used to it and i’m really interested in what’s going to happen next. Hopefully i’ll find a way to be able to watch the whole series.

  3. Channel 10 are no longer showing online episodes of Out of the Blue on their website.

Apparently there were 60 more episodes made and now I’m never going to see to see them.

Hopefully they will somehow end up on YouTube.

    So disappointed!!

  4. Hello , we did like watching Out of the Blue , so if it didn’t rate so good why not place the show later in the evening as it was in the beginning . Like another show Headlands we where left high and dry as to the end of the program . So do be kind and let some of us know how the story line finishes .

  5. OMG Guttered! If there was some other way to view the remaining episodes I wouldn’t care, but i’ve had to sit there and patiently watch every Sunday once a week just to try and see them. This is exactly what you were saying in the survey, nothing ever gets finished anymore. Its ridiculous!

  6. Breakers was one of the last of those really good shows for the younger generation.Mind You we were dealing with Pre OC,long before New 90210 and Laguna Beach style programming.
Now look at the crap they put up with in the form of either Blue Water High or Home and Away Complete Trash in a can

  7. I didn’t think OOTB was that bad. I mean, it wasn’t something that I’d take time out in my schedule to watch, but if given the choice between watching an episode of OOTB and an episode of Neighbours, I’d choose OOTB every time.

  8. Great move – they should bring back Sports Tonight at 5:30pm. I know they are trying to save it all for the one hour edition on one but a lot of people can’t see that show. Sunday afternoon is the biggest time for sport and they cram it into the news for about 5 minutes? I don’t understand why they did that to Sports Tonight – mind you, Out of the Blue was rubbish. Bring back the Simpsons!

  9. I hope Aussie fans do get to see the rest of the run. There were so many great storylines still to come that, thankfully, us British fans were able to see.

Out of the Blue is much better than Neighbours and H&A but Ten gave people no reason to watch it due to ridiculous scheduling and lack of promotion. It’s a massive shame.

  10. Crap of the highest order.Bad scripts, very bad acting.Absolute shite.Yet some years ago 10 had something unique with a little show called Breakers (fine tuning required admittedly),but a winner & guess what ,they let it go…….

  11. There’s a positive to everything. I get half an hour of my life back each week. Now we know who the murderer is, there’s not much left to keep watching anyway!

  12. out of the blue, more like out of here ten, i watched one week of that show and thought are you trying to rip off neighbours or home and away or what, it was a crap show. I wish idol was gone because clearly these people who are on the show are not good enough to make it in the pubs and clubs then they sure as hell are not good enough for a n1 single. DFTL fantastic show.

  13. It took them long enoug

DFTL should be starting a 6 though and give Idol the slightly later starting time of 7pm – 6.30 is too early for this type of show; even when Big Brother was still popular we saw the 6.30 episodes on Sundays rate lower than usual – only show that seems to capture that audience is Biggest Loser and it has a more lifestyle feel to it (healthy living etc)

  14. I hope they try relaunching Out of the Blue over the Summer at a better Daily time. That way we might be able to get into it better and who knows, it might work and end up giving them another show to produce each year.
