Channel Nine has launched its new station IDs and slogan, "Welcome Home."

nine id 09Channel Nine launched its new station IDs and slogan today, “Welcome Home.”

The ID follows an earlier report that the network would draw upon “The Home of TV.”

Unlike previous promos, it has limited new footage filmed, with the Nine logo supered into footage of established shows.

  1. Just watched it on youtube. Utterly cheap, nasty and awful. I do not like how they have used my current fav song for the promo, cheapens it so much. That song would be better for GO!
Still the same horrible logo, hideous ‘welcome home’ font, nasty blue colour, in general a terrible effort, I hope their work experience kid who did this didn’t get a good report at the end of the week!
…and yes sick of seeing that same scene from The Mentalist! aargghhh.

  2. The old logo is so much better. You dont flush iconic imagery down the toilet unless your stupid. But I guess they have been very stupid lately with Homemade, Australias perfect whatever couple and the failure before release of yawn The Apprentice.

Bring back the prestige and you will bring us back home.

  3. Hi David
I figure you’re in Melbourne. The ABC Sydney was off air for up to 2 hours tonight – transmission interrupted from about 8 (during the Yellowstone doco and thru until about when Midsomer Murders would have run.) Should make a big difference in thge ratings for tonight.
    Cheers
    David

  4. The reasons why Nine has revamped the whole network is to celebrate the “Hey Hey It’s Saturday”‘s upcoming reunion specials and losing to Channel Seven

  5. Timmy thanks for that,
well lets hope its soon…. yay
sorry David i never give any one a hard time on your site or anywhere else, i only have a go at a big company namely (7) and occasionaly foxtel and telstra. never am i as nasty as some here, again David my apologies

  6. @Michael – from a post on dtvforum, it appears Seven is now broadcasting a separate stream on 72 (as opposed to pointing that LCN to the main Seven stream) so the launch could be sooner rather than later. Well, finally.

Sorry I don’t mean to detract from the Nine ID thing.

  7. Doug, Dino & Jim those comments are a different Michael
I actually like and watch channel 7
just totally annoyed that 7 seemingly embraced the digital age… Then nothing,
you guys fine with them taking soooo long to launch a 2nd sd channel, well im not fine with that and yes its…..
    pathetic seven pathetic

  8. Just read my comment again. Can’t see anything anti-Seven, Jim….

I actually watch equal parts of all Networks, A Lot sadly…(must get a life)…. i’m not anti anything..

But you have a good night now, won’t you….

  9. I liked the Nine promo, still a long way to go though for Nine. Hopefully they do one for Christmas like they have in the ‘glory years’ when a present was past around.

  10. 9 has scrapped the 9HD watermark and replaced it a new mud-mark ‘:::9 High-Def’ different, but not a fan of the mud-mark, it’s a bit too distracting, wish they’d go back to the watermark.

@Bogues: You’re allowed to advertise shows with different ratings during G/PG shows, 7’s idea behind replacing the water mark is that the whole family is presumably watching Chicken little and so the older ones (most likely parents) will see the watermark ad and tune in at 830pm tomorrow (i know I will be, regardless of my dislike for this form of advertising).

  11. Updating that tired old logo is wellllllll overdue… but even then it’d only be mutton dressed up as lamb. If they can do fresh and new on Go!, why can’t they completely overhaul Nine?

Last time they brought in that Dunlop guy from the UK for a rebranding exercise, and all they ended up with was Nine-with-no-balls. I don’t understand why they are so bloody conservative. They’re already losing the ratings race, so right now, what have they got to lose? Are they worried the 80 year olds watching might get confused????
