Flashforward by seven days, what did you seen again?

A week on from their launches and most of last Monday's new shows took a tumble. It's just a question of how far.

flashforward23A week on from their launches and most of last Monday’s new shows took a tumble. It’s just a question of how far.

Last week FlashForward took 1.78m. Last night it was 1.47m.

Mercy slipped from 1.07m to 828,000.

The Apprentice Australia fell from 692,000 to 657,000.

Meanwhile The Mentalist rose from 988,000 to 1.08m.

Seven won the night again thanks to other shows including Highway Patrol (1.29m) and Destroyed in Seconds (1.22m). But Seven has already slated a replay of both FlashForward eps: 9:30pm Wednesday in place of Criminal Minds.

And SBS had a good night too. Top Gear‘s 864,000 was third in its slot, while Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader? was last on 737,000. Man vs Wild retained a much bigger 463,000 for SBS than last week’s High Altitude228,000.

ACA‘s tough story beat TT – 1.36m to 1.32m. Deal beat Hot Seat: 739,000 to 654,000.

Nurse Jackie was up to 462,000 over last week’s 396,000 and The 7PM Project also rose to 747,000 over last week’s 675,000.

As Sydney returned from their long weekend, looks like many wound down in front of the telly.

Week 41.

  1. Good to see Nurse Jackie increasing in ratings. I’m really enjoying this show. Watched FlashForward, last night was a bit slow but I’ll stick around based on the quality premise. Although I don’t know how much more I can take of Joseph Fiennes’ one-face-for all-emotions vacant stare. Also watched The Apprentice although clearly not many others did.

  2. David, that certainly does sound like a handful! Well, just thought i’d let you know that your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.. I don’t know what i (and probably a lot of other people) would do in the evenings if not for this site.. hehe So thanks heaps (:

  3. @Paull – some times I need another recorder and I already have 2x LG DVD/HDD with SD. Maybe next I’ll get a twin HD unit when the price comes down.

Here FF looked okay but like others I recorded it to watch other things (GNW) so watched it in SD, next week I might try switching to Seven during an add break and check it out in HD.

  4. @Peter: you’re right about pic quality, it appears we’re only getting the SD feed of FF (i only have an sd recorder so I watch most shows in sd, but have a full hd tv). I’m wondering if anyone knows why FF is only SD quality? Was it only filmed in SD?

David: true, but unless I get a recorder with 2 tuners, unfortunately I don’t have much choice. It seems the reason shows on 7 run so over time is because they try to fit in more ads each hour.

  5. i like FF. its a show that has great action scenes and makes the viewer actually need to use their brain. Its one downfall for me is the picture quality. Maybe its just my reception but it doesnt seem to be HD like Mercy after it. True, this may be better suited to a 9.30 slot as its not as mass appealling, but id doubt it’d be moved this year, or that it will dip below 1million without any sport ect competition. I trust that seven doesnt play roulette with viewers. Id say it’d hover in the 1.4-1.5million zone like it is now. A big dip for HP though after a huge start. Could the timeslot change have hurt it? And a great debut for DIS, rating much the same as all of sevens other factuals. It is a factual isn’t it!?
Id want to get into Mercy after all the good reviews from viewers on this site, but i dont think i can fit another hour into my tv week! Damn why does there have to be such good programs every night on tv!!

  6. Paull: Now you’re just encouraging late start strategies!

Alex: Thanks. Yes writing posts, comments admin, reviews, interviews, set visits, programming changes, launches, scouring int’l sites, opinion pieces, radio chats, giving quotes to journos, ad management …when do I get to watch the box anymore???

  7. FF was never going to maintain such a high audience, let’s just hope the writers are better than the ones behind heroes. That show started of excellent in it’s 1st season, season 2 was alright, and season 3… well I regret having spent time taping and watching such an awfully boring show- no plot, characters turn from evil, to good, to evil in the blink of an eye, and storylines are dropped for no apparent reason.

HP was great, loving this show, i’d say it’s better than The Force: Behind the Line.

AA looks pretty good, but I never end up taping it because FF goes 10 mins overtime.

  8. A little False Advertising for SBS last night.I was watching Top Gear and during the commercial break There was South Park supposed to be on at 9pm it never happened. No Wonder Ten’s Good News Week has become a default option for me on a Monday Night given the Rubbish on at SBS at the same hour and I am not into crime shows or Medical Dramas or anything aimed largely at women over at 7 or 9

  9. I think Flashforward will settle around the 1.2 million mark. The Mentalist deserves more than what it actually gets and has the potential to beat Flashforward.

No doubt the repeat of Flashforward will not rate that well compared to Criminal Minds, especially being up against Hey Hey #2. Surprised that, given all this encore madness of late, that Seven did not encore City Homicide from last Wed as it rated so poorly.

  10. FF is no different to the ‘lost/heroes’ type show where each character gets a few mins each week to move their story forward. The usual ‘human interest’ storyline, the usual ethnic mix ( so it can be sold around the world). When will one of the main chracters be a ‘baddie’…….it is already dull

  11. Goodness.. David, you’d never get away from the computer if you wrote these every day, along with compiling all the ratings, along with filing other stories, along with setting up interviews, along with reading over comments and everything else you do.. I think how you’re doing it at the moment is absolutely great. Thanks for everything you do on this site.. i can’t even imagine how long you spend each and every day on here.. 🙂

  12. Great to see Nurse Jackie picking up in numbers. Such great characters in this show. As Molly used to say, ‘do yourself a favour and check it out’.

Not surprised at FlashForward’s drop. Watched the first episode and didn’t like the characters enough to give it another go. Not that I’d call it a bad show – it’s more a case of having so much stuff to watch that I need to be selective. I’m still curious about the concept, so episode guide summaries will be the way to go to keep up with the storyline.

  13. meh about the FF drop. i am upset about mercy, that is a really good show, my new favourite i hope it doesn’t go too much further.

a bit of good news for 7PM project though, it rarely cracks 700k these days. let alone on a DLS night.
