Is this the best network promo ever?

No, it's not. But it certainly catches the attention. Just what was behind TEN's "Celebrity Support Group" promo?

TEN certainly gets brownie points for being bold.

Its new network promo to hit screens this Sunday is set in a “Celebrity Support Group” with several of its network identities playing against type… or is that playing to type….?

There’s Shaun Micallef, Paul McDermott, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Mikey Robins, Josh Thomas, Amanda Keller and more…

With its kitsch 60s theme music, the tawdry looking community hall, the shoddy sound, the dishevelled wardrobe, -and heck just the fact they brought them all together in the one space is a bit of a feat in itself.

Either way, it’s hard to imagine Seven or Nine putting something like this to air, so on that basis alone it gets the thumbs up.

But where was Sandra Sully sobbing sidesaddle? Why didn’t Paul Bongiorno turn up biting his nails? Angela Bishop would have been zipped in a red carpet straitjacket. Couldn’t Mal Walden have stumbled through “phenomenonenon” just one more time with feeling?

Yes it’s so good we want more.

Over to you now TEN. Bring on Part 2 please!

  1. It was great until then end where they had no idea how to end it. And it is time to get rid of “Seriously”. How about, “Seriously?”

I think it’s a shame there weren’t more faces from Rush and Neighbours, Ten really seems to ignore their drama in promos, what is that about?

    @Justin That’s Margot Robbie.

  2. Wow that was brilliant! I love TEN at the beginning of each ratings year when they’re doing great, they’re witty, edgy and it makes you laugh and take notice. Brilliant effort.

  3. “Going off their TV ratings it should hardly be surprising that people do not recognise them.”

Yeah, you’re right. Nobody watched Masterchef or TBYG.

  4. Love It! At least they don’t have a lame-ass “I gotta feeling” soundtrack and personalities doing the standard laugh to camera. Good work Ten, mix things up, and see what comes out.

  5. U might as well ignore FJ’s comment…it’s just an attempt to say that he thinks he is better than Ten and their personalities.

Nelly, perhaps they cant do drama, but it’s proof they can do comedy

  6. Someone is out of touch because they don’t recognise some nyuffies on a Ten ad? lol

Maybe not as many people watch Ten as you think. Going off their TV ratings it should hardly be surprising that people do not recognise them.

  7. That was awesome. ‘Onya 10! Easily the best FTA channel in Australia – would be even better if they could bring back HD coverage of their prime-time shows (and show One in HD out of prime-time).

  8. @ FJ, I think you’re joke about not recognising any of them falls squarely on you. It shows how completely out of touch you are with FTA TV.
If people don’t know who Shaun Micallef is, then they’re not worth talking to.
If they don’t recognise Nat Bass as a TEN personality, maybe they might recognise her as having had a #1 album last year.
Or what about the MChef judges… they just happen to have had the #1 rating show on FTA TV last year.

hmmm, but nice try. But give TEN some credit for pulling a host of A,B,C grade celebs in one room and poking fun at themselves.
